BMW Z8 vs. Ferrari 360 Spider

Personally I would take the Z8, although it's slower I am willing to sacrifice the 0.1 Sec for the throuty sound, the classic styling, front engine, and with the money I'll save I'll be able to afford gas. I found that the only down side of the Z8 is the placement of the guages, I don't know about you guys but when I'm going 0-62mph in 4.7 sec I kinda want my tach right in front of me.

You had better be talking M Roadster....even still I'd take the 360 anyday.

Faster, have you ever heard a Ferrari V8?, better looking (IMO), and the ultimate status symbol.

The ferrari would be hard to resist, I think I'd end up taking it. The Z8's got appeal too though.

WUPS...I read wrong...I thought you said Z3. I was wondering why on earth you would compare a 360 to a Z3...it all makes sense now. I'd still take the 360.

I don't really like the Z8....and I love the Ferrari. Easy decision.

I think in order to really make an informed decision, you have to see and feel both of them. On one hand you have german engineering the other is hand is the sexy body and soul of an Italian thoroughbred. The 360 Spider would win by a longshot IMo, it's hp is the same but from 2.5L less, it's mid-engined (So is the Z8 but let's not get technical) so it has some better aspects. Ferrari is the ultimate status symbol and it has the glass viewing window and the hidden softop so it is therefore better even at 160K.

You've all presented to me some good points in which I have taken into consideration, but maybe it's just me but I would still take the Z8. The Z8 is much more sophisticated and elegant, the 360 is just to much for me.

Maybe its just me, but the Z8 doesn't look as sensous and as speedy as the 360. Ferrari styling.... is unique.
I would get the Spider, but then I would be forced to pay a whole lot more right? Ah well, you take some, you give some.

If your talking about styling, the F360 spent friken 2200 hours in the wind tunnel! It has to have some good styling + aerodynamics.

that car sells for 128k from the dealer.
i would not pay more than that for a car that just came out.
at least not a bmw. and that is not to be offensive to bmw... i love their cars... there are just some cars that i would pay 30k+ over sticker for, and the z8 isnt one yet...

i understand what you mean though, but i would rather have something that as a marque is unique... and a bmw is a dime a dozen car...

Heep, if you have the dupont with the GT2 on the cover, look at the black 360 Spider, the pic is it coming fresh out of a crate and the list price is 249K USD, that's well over the normal 179K. Keep in mind once these new cars come out, since everybody wants one, their prices skyrocket. Look at the new 911 Turbo, when it first came out, it was going for over 200K.

Oh wait, I just found another new Z8 for sale for $119,900. Now there's a deal....

yeah, I saw the one with the Viper, I wanted it but couldn't get it. :( All I saw was the Buggatti EB110, Porsche 959 and Jaguar XJ220 for sale. Oh yeah, you forgot to mention that the $119,000 BMW Z8 is located in Germany so they don't have to pay any high tax, export/import fees, and they may not be legal on American Roads. I saw the ad, it has a 959 for $235,000, a new Diablo for $199,000 and a 360 Spyder for $219,000. It's the one with the castle in the background right?

* Correction, the price of the 360 Spyder in a previous post was wrong, it is actually $349K, Asking of course.

The Z8 is really nice (smoothest shift linkages I have ever felt) but I just couldn't bring myself to take a BMW over a Ferrari :D

i don't know what the interior of the Z8 is like but the ferrari's is so comfortable and it looks nice! i'll include a pic of me in one.

I'm a bimmer man... my first car was a 733i... my friends all drove bimmers... we were practically a club. Both cars are great, but I gotta say I'd take the 360 modena on this one.... but then, for a little more I could get a mosler.... hmmmm

I'd go for the BMW Z8. Seeing as I will never find myself racing such a car on a track, I am thinking about real world usage. In the real world, both have essentially the same performance and the same handling. I find the Z8 more personal, a car I could connect to more.

The real selling point for me on the Z8 is its interior. It has to have the most stunning upholestry design I have ever seen. Beyond that, the hand manufactured aluminum nobs are to die for. I would rather find myself sitting in that cockpit any day before the 360.

Finally, the rear end of the Z8 is the best in the business, regardless of price. I have never seen a more artfully executed rear (on a car :D ) in my life.

but the interior of the 360 sure is purty, and the back is nice too!

performance wise, you can't really compare these cars fairly. they are built for different reasons. looks, thats another story. both have beautiful parts to them. i, too, am a bimmer man, but i would take the ferrari. i would gladly take the Z8 though. hey, why do some people put "F's" in front of some of the ferrari cars. like... F360, F456, etc.... whats the dealio?? just a special way of saying 360 and 456???

360 for me. Would prefer the Modena, but I won't split hairs...

Hell ya. Just heard another F355 a week ago, the little bastard sounded better than anything I've ever heard in my whole life, really. Now the 360 mmmmmm... it's what dreams are made of....
