I have a 99 passat 1.8 turbo automatic and it is giving some trouble. The car is using ALOT of oil and seems to have a dead piston. I think the turbo has a bad seal but I am not sure. Could anyone help or provide any suggestions to help please

You can remove the air intake between the turbo & throttle body to see if the turbo is dumping oil internally, but I'd also do a compression test on the engine to verify it's not an internal problem like a broken piston ring, etc.... The dead cylinder isn't a good sign, hopefully it just fouled a spark plug.

You can also remove the hose that goes into your intercooler, usually if the turbo seal is bad, oil will pour out when the hose is taken off.
