electral probs on a 96 electrical, seats, dashpod 12-05-2003, 07:43 PM so my mom has a 96 grand charokee limited and the engine will run til hell freeses over(4.0, 145k). it's still new in spirit but my mom bought it used @90k. there a cupple of probs the lights for the dash (radio,vic,dash...)flicker from day to night. also the headlights have just now started to flicker on and off every once and a while. the dash from the day we bought it also squeeked authough its more like a chirp. this one i could careless about if we lived somewhere other than the midwest i ski so naturally lether becomes ass cold and my mom has the dual seat heaters but the passenger side doesnt work im wondering if its a durty pigtail or if it was more than that. sorry for the rant, but we arnt going to get a new jeep any time soon another question, why does the I6 last so long tdenkler 12-05-2003, 10:22 PM If you have auto dim headlights, sound like sensor is flaky. I believe one is mounted in the top of the grille header panel and other is in dash speaker grille. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the I6 is the same basic block they put in Nash Ramblers 45 years ago! Got 200k on mine, runs like a top pod 12-06-2003, 11:12 AM it would make sense, but yesterday i pushed on the dial and it kinda stopped i had also turned the lights to auto and it didnt come on the first time i swiched it is there any way to tell if its the sensor punkska8 12-07-2003, 02:54 PM Check all of your fuses, my jeep had a lot of electrical insanity and forever i was freaking out trying to figure out what was wrong. It turns out it was two little 15 amp fuses that i got for free from O'Reily. Check them all. bye pod 12-09-2003, 09:53 AM i think i fixed the lights, but what about the dash or heated seat pod 12-12-2003, 06:45 PM any one know about the dash trieck1232 12-14-2003, 12:54 AM i have the problem also withmy heated seats but neither work...the sensor can be checked if it is daytime by covering it with tape..electrical/ duct tape they should come on, or do you have burned out bulbs..they all flicker or what is the exact problem? pod 12-15-2003, 06:12 PM lights are fixed they have been working for a solid week now... michaelscharm 12-20-2003, 08:17 PM Check the screws that mount the dash components and the dash itself in. One or two are probably loose. If work was done in there they may have left one off entirely. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
