OK, I have a 95 rodeo with 100k miles on it.

i just noticed that it is starting to heat up when you're at an idle at the light. Once you start going, it drops down, but will still run hotter than normal.

No visible leaks, oil and coolant levels fine, oil pressure fine, no noise.

So, I assume it's either the fan clutch or the electric fan in front of the a/c condensor. is this a good assumption? (does the fan in front of the condensor help cool the actual engine or just the a/c??)

how do i test the fan clutch?
how do i test the electric fan and thermo switch? (the fuse is fine)

Thanks in advance.

If you take your car to a local Goodyear, they should check it for $30 or less for you. I was told my fan clutch is going out on my 95 (along with a million other things), but I haven't noticed it getting hotter when it idles. Hope this helps somewhat ...

It could be the water pump Is it leaking any coolant at all?

Mine is leaking coolant and I dont have that problem ... You would know if it was though .. there would be an awful smell when you went out to your car each day. If it is the pump though, you would be looking at around $100 just for the part plus about $5 or so for a new gaskett.
