what is my skyline? please helpAthiril 12-05-2003, 10:07 AM Can someone please tell me what my skyline is? and provide any info or links on it? here are the details i have. It was either made in 1982 or 1983 and sold a year later (may have been sold as a year later model with a diff engine maybe), then a year later again imported to Australia. It is 2.4Litres, 6 cylinders, 5 speed manual, I am told it is a turbo, and was pointed out to the power metre on the dashboard. the serial numbers are as follows: Type: MR30 MR30-015204 HFEMCLP Engine: L24(E) 2393 The engine block reads in big letters "Nissan OHC" on the back of the car it is badged Skyline on one side and 2.4E on the other on the back of the car. ZZII 12-05-2003, 10:57 AM It's an R31. Look at any Skyline History and u'll see. Athiril 12-05-2003, 11:05 AM would i be able to put a RB26DETT in it? raysoh8 12-05-2003, 12:25 PM oh my, you have an r31! its really rare now! you have an antique car! Athiril 12-06-2003, 02:50 AM It's registered as 1985 but made in 83 i think, it's a 'TI'. Because it was unregistered right now, it was going to be sold for $600 AUD, but I kept it instead, I am going to register it and fix it up real good Turbo Thoughts 12-06-2003, 03:09 PM Dude: Pictures, now. Athiril 12-07-2003, 02:00 AM I would if I had a digital camera, there may be photos of the car though somewhere..i'll look for them, if i can find them i'll scan them jamezilla 12-10-2003, 02:37 AM Athiril: 1983? Does it have 4-doors - or 5 (slopey hatchback thingo)? If so - then you've scored yourself a locally released MR30 (2-door is an import). And - no, not a turbo. Your engine code - L24E - means L-series, 2.4 litres, electronic fuel injection. The OHC means single, overhead camshaft. Nissan engine codes have a 'T' for turbo. Yes your could put an RB26 in it - there's enough length in the engine bay - but really, why invest a (minimum) $6000 on an engine for a $600 car? Plus you'll need new gearbox, driveline components, brakes etc to handle the power. The 2.4 should be able to put out a bit of oomph. Comparable to a VH Commodore. I gather it's your first car? Congratulations for joining the Skyline community! Take care of her - and there'll be many years of enjoyable motoring for you. Forget an RB for this baby - and start saving for an R32... that's where the real fun begins! James www.skylinesaustralia.com Athiril 12-10-2003, 03:04 AM 4 door, but it was imported from japan. not a hatchback, a sedan i think is what they call them. jamezilla 12-10-2003, 03:09 AM MR30 4-door (yes - sedan) was locally available (Aus) - they were all fully-imported from Japan (R31s were built in Clayton) - but they were sold through local dealers. Anyhoo - your firewall specs don't lie: 1983 MR30 with L24E motor :) Like this? http://www.versadev.com/ben/images/2001/MR30_Rear.jpg Athiril 12-10-2003, 04:46 AM yeah similar, but the rear lights aren't round. but mines better, because it's red ;) (red goes faster dont you know? ) jamezilla 12-10-2003, 05:11 PM Then yes - definitely Aus delivered MR30 sedan. And, yes, red cars do go faster. Athiril 12-10-2003, 10:02 PM I made a mistake, the gauge on the dashboard doesn't say "POWER", it actually says "BOOST", it is the first item on the dash on the left hand side, to the right of it comes all the normal displays "FUEL" etc etc... Athiril 12-16-2003, 06:53 AM R31 GTS-R 12-18-2003, 04:28 AM this is what you car probably would have looked like when it was new. except this is a coupe. Also one of the RS Turbo models Athiril 12-18-2003, 04:46 AM wheres the pic? or do you mean the pic of the car under your name? rb25stu 01-12-2004, 07:26 PM on your seat belt at the floor pan every walnut car has its year of buildits a white tab at the secure point at the B piller/ skyline_nismo23479 01-12-2004, 07:34 PM Yo dawg u got an R31...where did u say u got that. its extremely rare. if u could post a picture skyline_nismo23479 01-12-2004, 07:38 PM Yo man i saw that pictures and u really should fix up the front end. after that it will be a really expensive skyline Athiril 01-14-2004, 02:23 AM Yo man i saw that pictures and u really should fix up the front end. after that it will be a really expensive skyline Are you guys really sure it's an R31? and not an R30? cause the panel under the bonnect with the info says it's an MR30 (R30). I know that non-turbo R30's are supposed to be 4 cylinders and 1.6 or 1.8 litres or something like that. But this never came with stock turbo (i think), it has 6 cylinders, and is 2.4 Litres, it has 4 doors as well. Athiril 01-14-2004, 02:25 AM Picture: http://www.drakkan.net/skyline.jpg - i thought i posted this pic already? oh well. My mum gave it to me, she got it from an auction i think, like $2500 i think it was. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
