What are the Pros and cons of mounting 265/75/16's on a nearly stock X?

They (Discount Tire) said they'd fit without a problem but I would like some information from people who actually have had experience with these sizes.

I know that minor trimming is involved but are there other complications that I might not be aware of?

I recently put 265/75R16 BFG AT/KO's on my 01. I have calmini shackles (1.5") and I cranked the t-bars an inch up front.

The new tires slow acceleration a noticable amount, but it's not too bad. I have noticed that I need to downshift into 4th on a lot of hills that I used to be able to go up in 5th gear. On the plus side it lowers the engine RPMs quite a bit on the highway, although if you have an auto that probably doesn't matter to you that much. I also think the X looks a lot better when the wheel wells are filled out, and the larger tires give you more ground clearance. You may need to to a minor T-bar tweak to prevent some rubbing up front, but it probably isn't necessary.

Overall, I'm very happy with the change and wouldn't go back to stock size.

Pros: looks better, a bit more height.
Cons: none, period. They're negligibly bigger as far as power and handling are concerned.

Go for it, you'll need to trim this much, if any, on an 02 or newer X:

I was thinking of the BFG's and have heard many good reviews on them.

How much trimming is involved on an 01'?

Pictures would be great if anyone has some.

Oh, also would any modifications be needed other than the cranking of the t-bars? Especially in the rear. Are shackles or AAL's better? or any other suggestions.

Nothing at all is needed in the rear.
The torsion bar adjustment is to reduce (not eliminate) the chance of minor rubbing of the tire on the fender liner at max compression. Max compression on the street should be rare, but depending on how much tension is already on the t-bars, it could happen. I've not adjusted mine with 32" tires, and I only rub off-road. The rubbing is harmless, I've rubbed holes through the liner on both sides, it's just dead air behind them. Why Nissan formed the "step" in the plastic where it rubs is beyond me, it could have just been a smooth curve.

My guess for the "step" is for structural strength but who knows.

How much trimming would be needed in the front?

Look at the picture posted above. You would just need to trim off the part where the dotted line is, plus the extra lip that the 02 style doesn't have (compare the picture to your X and it's really obvious). Its not a big deal at all, it took me 10 minutes with a leatherman saw followed by a little work with a sharp knife to smooth the edge off.

I have installed Yokohama Geolander AT's on my 2003 Automatic 4X4 Xterra. Here are the pros and cons:

Pros:
1. Looks better plus gives it that aggressive look.
2. Rides half and inch taller which is an advantage.
3. Engine runs slower and thus increases fuel economy.
4. These tires are a marvel on the wet road and off road as well, (now not serious off road...1 foot and a half of mud / slush is no problem).
5. Lots of chicks look at the truck, maybe I will get some new ass soon.

Cons:

1. None
2. Still none
3. You guessed it....none.

Cheers
