pathfinder cylinder misfire-code 0701franklincounty 12-02-2003, 11:00 AM My wifes 1996 pathfinder continues to show the multiple cylinder misfire detected from time to time. The vehicle run great and I've never experienced an engine miss! Has anyone experienced this and what was the cure. Thanks in advance. lewisnc100 12-03-2003, 07:46 AM My wifes 1996 pathfinder continues to show the multiple cylinder misfire detected from time to time. Start by checking for an intake air leak, listen while the engine is idling for a leak. When was the last time the plugs were changed, replace them and see how they look if it's been a while and also check the ignition wires and distributor cap. Beyond that here's the list of possible causes: Improper Spark Plug Insufficient Compression Incorrect Fuel Pressure EGR Valve Injector circuit open or shorted Injectors Intake air leak Ignition secondary circuit is open or shorted Lack of fuel Magnetized flywheel (drive plate) There is also a TSB (NTB99-015) on your pathfinder for these errors being tripped by a coolant leak at the throttle body. Remove the air intake at the throttle body and check for any coolant inside, if there is you'll need to have the intake collector replaced. Also look for any coolant on the side where the line comes in. This leak happens from a manufacturing defect so if you have it I'd push for it to be covered by Nissan. franklincounty 12-05-2003, 08:44 AM Start by checking for an intake air leak, listen while the engine is idling for a leak. The plugs are new-but distributor and rotor are original with 115,000 miles on vehicle. I may replace them and see what happens. I can drive the vehicle for 500 miles or so before the code appears.
