Anyone Riding on 18s?????93DXon18s 12-01-2003, 11:53 AM this is for anyone riding on 18 inch rims............. i have a 93 civic with 18 inch Primax 712's. I have coilovers(not TRUE coilovers) and i lowered the car about 2.5 inches. What i want to ask is....does anyone have 18 inch wheels and a decent coilover/strut setup in which the tires(225/40/zr18...Kumho Ecsta Supra's) do not rub against the lip of the fenders? the rims look great on the car but i dont want to have to sacrifice ride height(keep the car stock height or raise the height) for looks. It looks great slammed the way i have it but every little bump in the road i go over, the car makes a terrible kind of grinding sound cause the tires rub up against the inside lip of the fender and i dont want to have to buy new tires every 2 months cause of this. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated....thanks jazer80 12-02-2003, 04:16 PM i have a 95 accord that w/ crappy coilovers too- they are gonna make ur ride suk by themselves. i had 18s on it until a few months ago, and realized that to have 18s u really gotta trade ur ride quality, especially if u live around shitty roads. i went to 17s which already feel better, and am in the process of getting a real susp setup 94hondaacc 01-08-2004, 03:25 PM aren't those tires 225 40 18 too big for a civic I got 18 on my accord with the same size tire. That could be your problem right there. also check your rim width, it should be no more than 18x7.hope this helps. 93DXon18s 01-08-2004, 11:20 PM yeah actually i got my rims and tires off of a 96 accord. u think if i get a smaller walled tire, it would help much or just make it easier to bend my rims? SlammedEL 01-09-2004, 04:50 PM i was rolling 18z on my 94 coupe. They fit but its close. You may wanna shave the inner lip if the fender though. and your tires are way wrong. you need a 215/35/18 no other tires will fit unless you do alot of fender work 95civicCX 01-11-2004, 04:14 AM You can roll the fenders the redneck way with a baseball bat or something of that statchur. Just a suggestion. BullShifter 01-11-2004, 05:07 AM 35 & 40 series tires are gonna have a bumpier ride no matter how much you invest in the suspension. You can't make up for the low profile with suspension, since the sidewall absords much of the irregularities of the road surface. correct offset - 38mm-42mm correct tire size: STOCK WHEEL WIDTH: 5.0" STOCK TIRE SIZE: 185/60R14 DIAMETER: 22.7" SECTION WIDTH: 7.3" SIDEWALL HEIGHT: 4.4" MINIMUM RIM WIDTH: 5.0" MAXIMUM RIM WIDTH: 6.5" REVOLUTIONS PER MILE: 887 SELECTED TIRE SIZE:215/35R18 DIAMETER: 23.9" SECTION WIDTH: 8.5" SIDEWALL HEIGHT: 3.0" MINIMUM RIM WIDTH: 7.0" MAXIMUM RIM WIDTH: 8.5" REVOLUTIONS PER MILE: 843 IF YOU TRAVELED 60 MPH WITH THIS TIRE INSTALLED ON YOUR VEHICLE YOUR SPEEDOMETER WOULD READ 57.0 MPH **information provided by www.whalentire.com (http://www.whalentire.com)***note - this tire is 1.2" taller than stock & 1.4" loss in sidewall height*Since your whee/tire probably weight alot more than stock(1lbs is like adding 8lbs) aftermarket "performance" brake pads should be used at least, if not upgraded rotors vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
