Skyline r33 or '02 M3s13lvr 12-14-2001, 05:44 PM Hey Everyone, I'm now looking for another toy! I am either considering a skyline r33 or a brand new M3. I only have motorex to choose from if I want a skyline. But I checked out Buyauto.com (http://www.buyauto.com) and they reffered me to my nearest bmw dealership. What do you guys think? More info and support for the m3? Btw, try out that www.buyauto.com (http://www.buyauto.com) it's cool! LiuBei 12-14-2001, 09:54 PM M3, best sports car you can get for under 50k. The Skyline is too much of a hassle to deal with, not saying its not a good car. USA Racer 12-14-2001, 11:06 PM M3. But I would get either a Corvette ZO6 or a used Acura NSX, or maybe, it's it's in the price range, a used Dodge Viper. GTS please. The Skyline GT-R is a cool car though. Just over priced because of the importing... :( Since both of those cars are i6s (E46 and R33) I take it you like that kind of engine. So... Get a mark four Toyota Supra and BPU it. That would be a nice toy. :) And you still have money left for more modifications. :) I'm a V8 boy so I would get a WS6 (or SS) and mod those to 'toy' status. ;) TatII 12-16-2001, 04:30 PM if you want to be very different, get a R33, stock wise a 02 M3 will beat it. however if you got money to dish out the R33 all the way. It is all the misc things that have to be done in order for it to be released for general sale. MotoRex distroyed nearly a million USD worth of GTR's in crash testing to satisfy the Transpertation Authority there. If you are going to buy a Skyline I would take an R32 over an R33. The R33 is heavier yet does not produce more power. It would be best to look for a 92-94 Vspec R32 if you can locate one through them. Besides my newly purchased R32 has just shit all over an M3! Start to finish, not to mention two late model vettes. YogsVR4 12-17-2001, 10:41 AM The M3 is a great looking ride that goes like a bat outta hell. If you want to impress the ricers - get a Skyline. If you want an impressive car - get the M3. Knightsport 12-17-2001, 03:22 PM Originally posted by LiuBei M3, best sports car you can get for under 50k. Screw an M3,get a Z06,unless you need the room, then get an M3. MattyG 12-17-2001, 05:17 PM My answer in Signature...... JBL85 12-17-2001, 06:33 PM im not sure.......but I think the 1/4 on the skyline is lower then a m3...but newer m3's are like 13.9 and those skylines are like 13.5...i think...dont quote me :p TatII 12-17-2001, 07:27 PM well to me its not even about impressing anything. its all about tryin to experience what all the fuss is about. if you own a GT-R you'll be pretty special casue no one else in a 200 mile radius will own one. let alone know what da hell it is. sooo when you got your nice R which ever one your lookin at. you can beat da hell out of most cars in the streets and kill them in the corners as well. and the funny thing is, they won't know what da hell they're gettin schooled by. that is why i think the GT-R is sooo great, most common people will just think its some kind of a super honda. lolz but its much more then just a lame civic or any thing honda can throw out. JBL85 12-18-2001, 12:07 AM i agree Knightsport 12-18-2001, 09:59 AM Originally posted by TatII well to me its not even about impressing anything. its all about tryin to experience what all the fuss is about. if you own a GT-R you'll be pretty special casue no one else in a 200 mile radius will own one. let alone know what da hell it is. sooo when you got your nice R which ever one your lookin at. you can beat da hell out of most cars in the streets and kill them in the corners as well. and the funny thing is, they won't know what da hell they're gettin schooled by. that is why i think the GT-R is sooo great, most common people will just think its some kind of a super honda. lolz but its much more then just a lame civic or any thing honda can throw out. So you just want a car that everyone will look up to you for having? That's the wrong reason to buy a car bro, consider for a minute if something were to go wrong with the car. Can you imagine the repair bill? Who would fix it? Assuming you have automotive "know how," where will you find the service manual? Do you speak Japanese? Can you live with paying as much insurance as the guy driving the 2002 360 Modena next to you? I assume you want to go faster? Do you know where to source parts? Do you know how much shipping is from Japan? Do you know how much JDM aftermarket parts are? Can you shift left handed? Can you remeber to turn on the blinker instead of the windshield washers? Okay,so the last two wouldn't be so tough to overcome, but you have to consider those things. Not only are your payments going to be monstrous on a $40-50k car,but you have to consider all the other things. Just trying to give you the benefit of my experience. Hope the Mods don't take offense again. TatII 12-18-2001, 05:17 PM oooo i know of the insurance fees and the problems that i would face if anything was to go wrong. yes it can be fixed by motorex, and you can import after marker parts from them as well. they have this upgrade program where it goes up by stages. it won't be cheap though, you need to pay 10 grand for a 500 hp up grade adn that is a stage 4. plus it would take forever for the parts to ship from cali to nyc. but that still doens't stop me from dreaming. that is why its still a dream car to me, but if anyone were to own one, of course they're gonna need a car for every day use like gettin the grocery and stuff like that. and incase you do crash that lovely GT-R you'll still have your crappy little car to get to you work until you get the GT-R fixed.:smoka: JBL85 12-18-2001, 09:51 PM you can get repair manuals on ebay if thats the case :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p USA Racer 12-19-2001, 01:52 AM Just get a ZO6. Sheesh. What more do u want in a pure driver's car? :) You CAN twin-turbo the Corvette you know. :) JBL85 12-19-2001, 11:15 AM can you say UNRELIABLE anyways, the skyline is car, so its not like it cant be repaired, and its japanese, so it should be pretty reliable if you take care of it... if you live in southern california, your fine, a bunch of the speed shops know how to take care of skylines because we have 4 of them in this county. USA Racer 12-19-2001, 04:03 PM Originally posted by JBL85 can you say UNRELIABLE If your talking about the Corvette ZO6 I'd like to see you prove it. Statistic maybe? :p I still say (out of his two cars) get the M3. The GT-R is too new here. Not proven yet. :) (although everybody that owns one worships it...) Just get a used Acura NSX for under $50,000 and upgrade to a stiffer suspension. You'll speed through the corners at fifth gen Corvette speeds. :) Or get a mark four Toyota Supra TT. :) And modify your forced induction. :) BOTTOM LINE: Test drive the M3!! :) TatII 12-19-2001, 04:11 PM well the skyline is too new hear cause people are being too pussy to buy the damn thing~~! they're too worried about this and that. that is why if this keeps up, there won't be a strong following and it would just die. anyways. the GT-R can out perform any of those cars. maybe not the M3 or the NSX, hmmmmmmmm damn keep on thinking that its a R34 that he wants~!! hahahh anyways, hmmmmm yeah get what you want. i already put in my .2 cents a while ago.:bloated: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
