engine swapBig Qaun 11-29-2003, 01:27 AM i am the proud owner of a 95 sohc neon that runs great but i need more power i heard of a 2.4 intrepid/advenger swap but never seen one done and would imagine it is quite difficult. so to be easy on my wallet and save me the stress i think im gonna make the dohc swap is there anything else i need to do except some wiring issues?? or if u know of the 2.4 swap that has been done how hard is it? how exspensive? should i just go with the dohc swap?? please help in need of some quick performance and speed, sick of checking out taillights and would like to have mine checked some time. please reply or email me at qaun2000@yahoo.com BrentCosenza 12-30-2003, 12:15 AM i have a SOHC Neon and i would never make the switch to DOHC :nono: they are weaker in the long run...If your neon is stock no wonder its a :loser: ? if it is then of course it is slow but a few after market parts will fix that you can start off with a CAI thats bout 10-15 wich will bring you from 132hp to @147 and then throttle body spacers are another 10hp which is @157 and an ECU Upgrade is good for 15-25hp wich will have you anywhere from 172-182hp and with that power to weight ratio you should be able to blow a v-6 stang away...and you might also wanna get a header 10hp thats 192hp and a high intensity coil pack more electricity=better throttle response.if you have any more ques. get onmsn messenger and ask the email address is georgia_boy_31313@hotmail.com lewdaka03 01-02-2004, 12:06 PM the upgrade shit he told you is all fake..... From those mods you would only gain 15 to 20 horsepower at the most... The swap you are talking about is from the stratus.... Yes it will fit..... I have seen it done before is your neon a auto or manual??? Pyro Maniac 01-31-2004, 07:06 PM I'm in the same boat as Big Quan with wanting more power. I've pondered puting a DOHC head on to replace the SOHC head. And putting in the whole ne DOHC motor. But with it i want to replace the auto with a manual. Can some body email me some tips on what's easy and inexpensive Jackrabbit 02-03-2004, 02:24 PM Check the motor swap forum at neons.org Much info there. Eric2889 02-22-2004, 11:07 PM I want a approx 500hp, i dont know what motor that would fit in my 1999 dodge neon, which one would fit and wiche one would be the best for my situation? blachdohcneon 02-22-2004, 11:57 PM WOW, brentcosenza is a dumbass or just really gullible. Big qaun if your atx swap to mtx that will make your car much faster, and yeah the 2.4 is the best swap, as far as 500hp (how old are you, 16)anyway your going to need a turbo and a very large bank account, dyno time and some extensive knowledge on engines, good luck. a 500hp neon would be insane. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
