Inspired R32 (Yes...another Skyline)slk320 11-27-2003, 09:36 PM So Hiroboy's refference photos inspired me... especially this one: http://www.kaizousha.com/images_car/kbr32r39/1.JPG so I decided to build my own... well not an exat copy but same color scheme. Never built a gold car before...so... Here is the preliminary color... both Tamiya, gold and gloss black. body has not been clear coated yet or polished. no details on the headlights or IC...these are just preliminary shots... wheels are Aoshima, 19". http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/1_G_001.sized.jpg rear wheel, dark titanium metallizer, clear coated..thought it fills up the rear wheel arches rather nicely.. http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/2_G_001.sized.jpg what do you think of the front view? http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/3_G_001.sized.jpg side view: http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/4_G_001.sized.jpg rear view, plan on using this spoiler and a aero wing from SAS, Cf of course. http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/5_G_001.sized.jpg will start on the engine later... but I have some little mods in stored there too.. So now I know why you guys like SKylines so much.. I am catching the fever.... Zcaithaca 11-27-2003, 09:41 PM lookin sweet SuperStreet reader 11-27-2003, 10:17 PM what skyline kit is that? i think its aoshima HKS Kansai R32 BTW looks really nice i wuz kinda woundering what it looks like w/TE37 if you have any spoolin12 11-27-2003, 10:55 PM Looks great I think you need to do the lower front lip Flat black. slk320 11-27-2003, 11:39 PM ma be I will do lower lip in cf... we will see slk320 11-27-2003, 11:45 PM what skyline kit is that? i think its aoshima HKS Kansai R32 BTW looks really nice i wuz kinda woundering what it looks like w/TE37 if you have any Yes, Aoshima Kansai service R32 and no I don't have any TE37 SchuberT 11-28-2003, 12:30 AM dude, if this one turns out even 3/4 the quality of your other, i'm going to die... looks killer already skypie 11-28-2003, 02:54 AM Looking Good my man! :sunglasse Hehehe... i was gonna do the other one (all gold 32) Top Secret But i messed upt the the pin thingies on the side stock vents on the bumper... so i took the other side off... and this is the result... a generic bumper(i think)... (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=1350414#post1350414) snk33y 11-28-2003, 07:29 AM Love the colour and wheel combo, the R32 in my opinion would have to be the classic of all skylines, i think it has the most agressive front end compared to the rest. this should be a nice build up. joecwlaw 11-28-2003, 10:43 AM hey Paul, your R32 looks stunning cool with koenig 19" :sunglasse slk320 11-28-2003, 11:02 AM hey Paul, your R32 looks stunning cool with koenig 19" :sunglasse Thanks man, your rims look cool under ANY model! Skypie - Your R32 is awesome!!! I am going to use your engine as refference! Midnight Racer 11-28-2003, 11:04 AM Looks like it going to look killer when done. slk320 11-29-2003, 03:43 PM Ok, some updates. wheels and engine. Wheels: http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/1_G_002.sized.jpg they are 19" Aoshima Koening.. they look killer.. But here is my question for you guys.. which lip do you preffer? The one in the picture (fat flat silver lip) or this one: http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/2_G_002.sized.jpg Smaller lip, anodized red lip. here is some assorted engine parts: http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/3_G_002.sized.jpg here is the engine mock up. Twin NOS runners, fuel rail in the works, most of the plumbing and wiring will also be included: http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/4_G_002.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/5_G_002.sized.jpg please comment! You guys know skylines way more than me, so I am looking forward to your suggestions... slk320 11-29-2003, 05:10 PM does anyone have any wiring refferences for R32 engine? thanks. 86_SR5 11-29-2003, 05:13 PM someone posted in the parent forums some pics of an R32, try searching, I prefer the fatter lip, but that's just me. blueboost 11-29-2003, 07:00 PM I think it looks great!! your engine detail is very good. if I were going to suggest something it would be to save the spray for a car that needs it. any car capable of generating 1500HP w/out it.. don't need it. its insulting to put that on such a car IMO. 86_SR5 11-29-2003, 07:18 PM I think it looks great!! your engine detail is very good. if I were going to suggest something it would be to save the spray for a car that needs it. any car capable of generating 1500HP w/out it.. don't need it. its insulting to put that on such a car IMO. Not exactly true blue, Pro stock drag cars run v8's that are naturally aspirated and push 1500whp, some of the cars have nitrous for that extra punch, not saying that they need it, just saying that it's ok for them to have it. Rotaryman 11-29-2003, 10:56 PM MAN, that is badass. I checked out that page the other day and was flippin out the whole time. The purple RX-7 was rad, and i'm thinking that I have to mock it up model style. The engine detail is sick, keep up the good work. Layla's Keeper 11-29-2003, 11:11 PM Not exactly true blue, Pro stock drag cars run v8's that are naturally aspirated and push 1500whp, some of the cars have nitrous for that extra punch, not saying that they need it, just saying that it's ok for them to have it. Don't you mean Pro Mod? Or Fuel Coupe? Or Pro Street? NHRA and IHRA Pro Stock are both all-motor classes. No N2O allowed. But, what the hey, the N2O injectors look pretty cool on this. Might as well give it a go. 86_SR5 11-30-2003, 12:00 AM No, I'm pretty sure when the JEG's car was a mid 90's cutlass coupe it had ZEX in it, but that was way back when. My friend, Joe, has a 8second cutlass (84') that has N20, I belive he has it classed as being Pro-Stock, however he's a weekend warrior, not a pro. slk320 11-30-2003, 07:44 PM finished engine assembly. dry fitted into body. there is still battery, brake booster, and accesories to add...but you get the idea. http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/1_G_004.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/2_G_004.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/3_G_004.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/4_G_004.sized.jpg 86_SR5 11-30-2003, 08:25 PM nice fitment, what do you use for the hose clamps? How about relocating the battery to the back? snk33y 11-30-2003, 08:31 PM Thats one clean engine bay!! love seeing this type of work. Love the subtle details like hose clamps, airbox, air flow meter, strut brace, sensors etc... this engine really comes alive, cant wait to see it finished. specmodeler 11-30-2003, 11:28 PM Nice!!! engine detail. jgmodelcars 11-30-2003, 11:42 PM Wow, looks sooo nice! I think R32s are the nicest skylines! And gold! wow! I'm doing a gold car as well right now, its a Porsche 959. Great work! :iceslolan skypie 12-01-2003, 12:59 AM Thats one awesome work there!!! So Clean! willimo 12-01-2003, 01:26 AM Beautiful engine! Can't wait to see how that attention to detail manifests itself throughout the entire car. Great work! Hiroboy 12-01-2003, 02:21 AM Awesome work so far, the silver lip on the rims is best. An entry for the AF comp I think. slk320 12-01-2003, 11:24 AM Awesome work so far, the silver lip on the rims is best. An entry for the AF comp I think. Wow, thanks guys, I never expected the Master's praise  I am really beginging to like Skylines... As you know there are not too many of them here in the US, so never had a chance to drive one, but I really like making the models, especially ones with the engine. Thanks for all the positive comments. tonioseven 12-01-2003, 12:09 PM This is shaping up to be an excellent project!! :iceslolan  Bookshelf 12-01-2003, 12:11 PM off Da Hook...!!..!!!..!!.... pettercardoso 12-01-2003, 12:53 PM That's looking killer! Love the colours, but I'd paint the wheels white, just like the pic you show on the 1st or 2nd post.... Keep it up and keep those pics comin' :D slk320 12-03-2003, 11:39 PM More updates time. Finished the dash board, this is going to be a race version, with a large tach, shift light, engine management controller, etc... will have a full roll cage also. here is the pic of the dash board, new steering wheel too.. http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/album13/1_G.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/album13/2_G.sized.jpg Pic of the new seats, they are Sparco racing seats with 5 point harness and carbon fiber seat backs... http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/album13/3_G.sized.jpg Hood. Decided against Carbon Fiber, went with all black, mesh grill opening, hood pins are PE items. http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/album13/4_G.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/album13/5_G.sized.jpg Brakes. They are orginal Aoshima items: http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/album13/6_G.sized.jpg What do you think? nis.k.a. 12-03-2003, 11:53 PM I like it. The Sparco's....where are they from? slk320 12-03-2003, 11:57 PM Sparco's are from a Ford Focus WRC kit. They are Tamiya items. I think they are some of the best plastic racing seats in 1/24 scale I have ever seen! SchuberT 12-04-2003, 12:36 AM *snarl* you used parts froma focus kit?!?!??! i'm insulted... but seriously... kickass dash and other stuff... maybe give the brake calipers a little sanding to give a slightly used look? slk320 12-04-2003, 12:45 AM I use a lot of different parts from various kits to achieve a desired effect. The Sparco Torino seats in WRC kit are great seats and would fit into any 1:1 car. I know that using Ford parts in the engine would be rather Sacriligious, but in the interior one part is as good as another.. BTW the steering wheel is also from a FOrd kit ;) slk320 12-04-2003, 01:02 AM More pictures. Have been working on a little surprise for my model... I am building a special intake that will be used instead of a headlight.. here it is: http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/1_G_005.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/2_G_005.sized.jpg Some body shots, panel lines a decals are done. I fixed the crooked license plate already ;) http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/3_G_005.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/4_G_005.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/5_G_003.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/6_G_001.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/7_G_001.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/8_G_001.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/9_G_001.sized.jpg ShOrtyOC714 12-04-2003, 01:09 AM Damn... this car is coming out amazing!! Nice job man, i like that racing style ur going for with the intake coming out of the headlights side.... RAM AIR yo! :iceslolan slk320 12-04-2003, 11:16 AM I am working on the ram air set up, but I need a surround. Anyone has any ideas on fabrication of said surround that would go in place of the headlight? ALso I cracked my right headlight cover (clear plastic piece) I don't suppose anyone has any of those laying around :naughty: I guess I will just have to cover it with clear epoxy to simulate headlight cover.. :( Those Aoshima clear parts are sure fragile. nis.k.a. 12-04-2003, 12:32 PM Fabbing would probably be the best. To let you know Fujimi makes an R32 kit with the passenger side "stack" headlight. Here's a pic from HLJ (http://www.hlj.com/cgi-perl/hljpage.cgi?FUJ18701) slk320 12-04-2003, 12:53 PM Wow, thats a nice looking kit... any idea where I can get one? I don't like dealing with HLJ....joeclaw? GT-Alex 12-04-2003, 02:56 PM [QUOTE=slk320]I am working on the ram air set up, but I need a surround. Anyone has any ideas on fabrication of said surround that would go in place of the headlight?[QUOTE] Maybe you can use the standard headlight (without the cover) and drill a hole in it to make your intake ? willimo 12-04-2003, 04:20 PM This car is looking great. The detail is incredible. For the intake in the light, the best would just to be cutting a hole is a styrene cover. Or in the original headlight. Or by molding it in putty. I don't really know... One thing, the center line on your steeringwheel isn't in the center... You wouldn't want your car turning slightly left forever, would you? 86_SR5 12-04-2003, 04:35 PM ram air on a skyline, best idea i've seen so far. Keep up the good work slk Snooker 12-04-2003, 05:26 PM More pictures. Have been working on a little surprise for my model... I am building a special intake that will be used instead of a headlight.. here it is: http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/3_G_005.sized.jpg That's kinda funny. You used a German number plate, but the little "A" decal stands for Austria! :icon16: But nevertheless, a great model. This will be an eye catcher in your show case! BTW: How did you do the white/red/black thing saying "Nissan" on the top of the motor? Is it painted or a decal? SchuberT 12-04-2003, 06:23 PM I use a lot of different parts from various kits to achieve a desired effect. The Sparco Torino seats in WRC kit are great seats and would fit into any 1:1 car. I know that using Ford parts in the engine would be rather Sacriligious, but in the interior one part is as good as another.. BTW the steering wheel is also from a FOrd kit ;) lol was just joking... i'm just a huge fan of the Focus WRC and found it odd that you would use a seat from that kit rather than building it :)... other than that... keep up the killer work... cant wait to see the finished headlight/intake thinger :) slk320 12-04-2003, 11:59 PM Ok more updates. just finishing up the body and fitting chasis and wheels on: http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/1_G_006.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/2_G_006.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/3_G_006.sized.jpg engine exposed, working on the intake: http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/4_G_006.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/5_G_004.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/6_G_002.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/7_G_002.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/8_G_002.sized.jpg skypie 12-05-2003, 12:28 AM That R32 is da bomb!!! hehehe Btw, is that a kansai 32? you shouldve bought the murayama 32, it has an extra headlight with an intake... but you were after the hood after all. hehe oh well. it's a killa! :sunglasse crismag 12-05-2003, 03:48 AM wow! turning out great! :) love the color! tonioseven 12-05-2003, 07:03 AM Sweet!! :sunglasse KP60 12-05-2003, 09:21 AM Very good! The engine is great. And the colors are perfect. I also like the rims! What color did you use for the dash board and the engine bay? jgmodelcars 12-05-2003, 10:56 AM looking mean! :evillol: slk320 12-05-2003, 11:03 AM Thanks for all the great comments. I went with Kansai service because of the hood  And the wheels, and a roll cage and the fact that I like Aoshima more than FUjimi :naughty: The engien bay color is testors mettalizer aluminum plate and the interior color is sea grey from Tamyia military flat colors collection, with a semi-gloss clear overspray. Next thing to tackle is to finish up the racing interior (I already put the roll cage together, will also add Nitrous tanks and a fire bottle.) ALso going to have to work on the headlight intake problem. vwman 12-05-2003, 11:11 AM That looks very HOT by this far ! :smokin: hypertek 12-05-2003, 01:33 PM Nice, just got a lil nitpicks about it, usually dont see a tach, Nitrous and american brand decals and stuff on a R32 or any skyline for that mater, ZEX doesnt deserve to touch a skyline, and I doubt Eibach makes anything for the skylines. but where did you get the decals from anyways?? Oh yah, if you where to ditch the airbox, you could run 2 air filters, 1 from each turbo. sidenote, I think the R32 had a black RB26, not a red one, just say its an R34 engine swapped in.. hehehe slk320 12-05-2003, 02:10 PM Nice, just got a lil nitpicks about it, usually dont see a tach, Nitrous and american brand decals and stuff on a R32 or any skyline for that mater, ZEX doesnt deserve to touch a skyline, and I doubt Eibach makes anything for the skylines. but where did you get the decals from anyways?? Oh yah, if you where to ditch the airbox, you could run 2 air filters, 1 from each turbo. sidenote, I think the R32 had a black RB26, not a red one, just say its an R34 engine swapped in.. hehehe 1. The tach can be seen on the very first photo of the real R32 in Japan. THey are used for racing applications. I am attemtpting to replicate the vehicle in the photo (aside form the rims), therefore I used a tach. 2. The decals on the side are by no means an "American brand" decals as they include Sparco, Brembo, HKS and Pirelli. They are the normal sponsor style decals you would find on any weekend racer. Additioanly I am using ZEX bottles for NOS and I am using Eibach "style" red springs so They are appropriate. 3. I like the airbox "stock" look, but I am doing a ram air type of set up through the opening headlight to allow more airflow, in the style of HKS and Kansai. 4. RB26 coverscan be painted any way the owner wants, while you are right, the stock cover is black, I have seen gold, lilac, blue, silver, chrome and red used. I chose red to emphasise performance feel. Thanks for your reply! nis.k.a. 12-05-2003, 05:35 PM There is such a thing as TOO nitpicky....lol SchuberT 12-05-2003, 06:18 PM i think it looks pretty badass :) great job slk320 12-06-2003, 01:32 AM Finished the exhaust... I am finaly satisfied with the look, not too big, not too small. http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/1_G_007.sized.jpg ALmost finished with interior too.. test fitting seats and dash. http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/2_G_007.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/3_G_007.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/4_G_007.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/5_G_005.sized.jpg willimo 12-06-2003, 01:47 AM I doubt Eibach makes anything for the skylines. You can get any spring company to custom wind a spring for you to whatever lbs/in you like and for whatever length you like and whatever diameter you like... if you have a Skyline, you're allowed to do whatever you like to it, as far as I'm concerned. Except put an APC sticker on it, then I'd have to liberate the Skyline.... Your car looks great. Never tire of Skylines even though I am a diehard Honda fan. Got to love anything fast... I love the gold on that car, so much that between your car and one I saw on the same site you drew inspiration from, I've decided to paint my R32 gold with a silver hood. Yeah, I know, not original but I like it a lot! Your detail is great, too, and craftsmanship is top notch. I love it. The only nitpick I got is the shift light stuck on the tach is oversized, but, eh? Who cares. The rest of the model is so close to perfect that it ain't no thang. EMAXX 12-07-2003, 11:46 AM Everything looks so awesome. The engine in it is just kickass, the interior is awesome, and the paint job is totally sweet. I can't wait till this car is done. Rotaryman 12-07-2003, 11:25 PM Looks great! The engine looks really nice too. ShOrtyOC714 12-07-2003, 11:30 PM Did u make that rollcage or get it from a diff kit? Thanx slk320 12-08-2003, 12:35 AM ok, finished: http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/8_G_003.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/9_G_002.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/10_G.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/11_G.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/12_G.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/13_G.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/14_G.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/15_G.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/16_G.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/17_G.sized.jpg http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/albun11/18_G.sized.jpg skypie 12-08-2003, 01:02 AM OMG!!! I think i'm gonna bacxk out from the contest thingie, 1 Golden Masterpiece is enough :icon16: Good luck to ya man! :) Kasso 12-08-2003, 01:30 AM That car is the shit!!!!!! its perfect among those garage components. now ill be afraid to build an R32 cuz urs is soo nice!!! lol. jgmodelcars 12-08-2003, 02:11 AM Wow, that looks so nice! I like the color, the style, everything! That makes me want to finally build a model of my fav. skyline... the R32~~! tazdev 12-08-2003, 03:38 AM very nice work indeed. I like it bigfrit 12-08-2003, 10:17 AM Cannot say I ve seen a better R32.
