Fuel gauge problems

I've been having problems with my '90 Honda Accord EX. The fuel gauge has been reading wrong since I've owned it, which has been little over a month. The needle on the gauge shows full when I fill it up, but shows it's empty before it should. I filled up the tank, and the needle was on empty at about 190-200 miles (according to the odometer). I checked the fuel economy and gas tank size somewhere on the internet, which was said to be 26 city/30 hwy with a 17 gal. tank. According to this, I would have from 442 - 510 miles on a full tank.

Just today, I ran out of gas. The odometer read only 282 miles since my last fill-up, which means I only got 16.5 miles/gal. I have no idea what is wrong, but this is not right. I'm thinking that it might be the sending unit that is causing the bad readings, but as for the fuel economy, I'm not sure. I think if I get new plugs/wires and clean the fuel injector it might help.

Any other comments or advice? This is really bugging me.

I have the same problem with my 94 accord lx. It has been doing it for eversince I have owend it, and that is 3 years. Changing the plugs and the wires on mine didn't help. Cleaning the fule injector prob. will get your milage back up.
