LeSabre Air Vent Controls

I have a 1993 LeSabre Limited without automatic climate control, so the fan speed and temp control are manual. But the air vent selection is electronic, and is controlled by a unit consisting of push-buttons which light up when selected. But the push-button unit behaves strangely once in a while, usually in cold weather.
Intermittently, and all on their own, the air vent selection buttons will cycle through all the options (vent, floor, bi-lev, even rear def, etc.) continuously until it decides to stop, again on its own, usually once the temperature either inside the car or under the hood has risen. I can hear the actuators moving things around as the cycling continues, so I know it's not just the display. When it happens, holding down 'off' pauses it, but it often resumes right after.
Has anyone heard of this problem or have any ideas where I should start looking, or what part to replace first?

I had the same problem. I told my mechanic that a gremlin was in my dash board. I ended up replacing all the 2 of the relays under the hood against the fire wall. I think it was the 2nd and third from the left (passenger side). This worked for a bit and then I ended up replacing the relays (little square boxes) under the glove compartment plugged into a fuse box. This also worked for a bit, and now the push button unit will not work at all and I think that I am going to replace that as well. Did you get yours fixed another way. I might be missing something. Any information will help. Thanks, and good luck with yours.
