i want to get this alpine headunit, it is the cda-7995 and it says that i requires an amp to power the headunit. my question is what kind of amp do i need to power this? also i am going to get 2 amps, 1 for my subs and the other for my speakers, so will one of these amps work? thanks

If I understand what you are asking, yes, one of your 2 amps will work. The head unit just sends a singnal, no power. So you will need to run the RCA's from the back of the unit to an amp, and then from the amp you will run your speakers.

can you give the link from where you found the cd player. I looked on www.onlinecarstereo.com and they don't say anything like that. However, I'm not sure you two are talking about the same thing. Some Alpine headunits require you to run a power wire directly to the battery to power the headunit because the built-in amp needs more power than what the little 12(?) gauge wire coming off the factory harness can handle. I think that might be what they meant by needing an amp to power the headunit, which doesn't really make sense in the first place.

guys ... as a rule for alpine

79XX has no internal amps
78XX has hi power amp(s) built in

so you will need an amp for every pair of speakers - or a 4 channel amp for the front and rear, or seperate mid and tweeter. You will need another (larger) amp for your bass speakers.
