I have a new '04 Accord EX V6. The bass from the speakers gets distorted very easily. Does anybody have a good recommendation for an affordable pair of replacement speakers to get tight bass? I'd like to spend less than $200 if possible. I don't need booming bass sound, I listen mainly to Sting, Peter Gabriel, Matchbox 20, jazz, etc. Not rap.

But do I also need to replace the speakers that are putting out the distorted bass? Maybe put in speakers that don't have much bass output and then a sub?

I'm no audio expert but, i would upgrade the stock speakers & add a sub. You don't need a ghetto boomer to have nice tight bass. Once the sub is installed you can turn down the bass to the rest of the speakers & adjust the sub seperate. www.crutchfield.com
