subaru wrx runnerGT-Alex 11-23-2003, 02:14 PM Hi this is my first post here so don't be too rude ! It s a tamiya subaru wrx sti and it will follow a weight watchers diet, with the rear seats removed and only one seat for the pilot. I already made the roll cage and the body just get a light kit and an air diffusor. http://monsite.wanadoo.fr/photosalex/images/1-picture1.jpg?0.4116397684067751 http://monsite.wanadoo.fr/photosalex/images/2-picture1.jpg?0.7304535856637959 For the moment i'm working on the chassi to fit the lowering of the car. http://monsite.wanadoo.fr/photosalex/images/2-picture2.jpg?0.1646425464770156 I'll post other pics of the building if you like it. Midnight Racer 11-23-2003, 02:26 PM Very nice progress.:bigthumb: vwman 11-23-2003, 02:59 PM REally nice :smokin: . Keep us posted. EMAXX 11-23-2003, 05:18 PM Looks really good so far. Keep us posted. I'm very interested in seeing what you do with this. Jay! 11-23-2003, 09:02 PM I like it! :) Welcome! phyphy 11-23-2003, 09:48 PM add oil..add oil...cant wait to see it done....... could u tell me how to lower this tamiya kit...since the shaft is metal...?! joecwlaw 11-24-2003, 12:15 AM add oil..add oil...cant wait to see it done....... could u tell me how to lower this tamiya kit...since the shaft is metal...?! the most simple way is to "drill" a "higher" mount hole for the shaft so that the shaft will locate "upper", then the ride height will be lowered. Joe GT-Alex 11-24-2003, 08:59 AM add oil..add oil...cant wait to see it done....... could u tell me how to lower this tamiya kit...since the shaft is metal...?! For the lowering joe already answered but if you want to be able to show the under of your kit you'll have to :banghead: as new tamiya kits are simplified with the metal shafts ! you have to cut out all the suspention elements and glue them back in the right position, and build many new parts such as transmition shaft or the rods. Good luck ! I'll post a pic of the rear susp. when i'll complete it. bigfrit 11-24-2003, 09:18 AM Hm it looks a very interesting build ! Please keep us updated! Olivier GT-Alex 11-24-2003, 03:22 PM here's the latest pic of the rear susp. I added the 2 transmission shafts and the new arms. There's still a lot of work ! http://monsite.wanadoo.fr/photosalex/images/3-picture4.jpg?0.3377985844895448 SonyMobile 11-24-2003, 05:16 PM nice progress so far, cage looks pretty good to me, this should look pretty sweet when its done! :iceslolan Bookshelf 11-27-2003, 10:49 AM Your STI looks sweet as hell... GT-Alex 11-28-2003, 11:33 AM here i am with more work done. I almost finished the inside, just need to put bare-metal on the roll-cage and to make the harness and turbo-timer. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/data/502/111698sub_5-thumb.jpg A pic of the new steering wheel borrowed to a jgtc r-33. sorry for the poor quality. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/data/502/111698sub_7-thumb.jpg wires and electronic boxes added and painted. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/data/502/111698sub_6-thumb.jpg on the pic you don't see but the old rear seats place is covered with CF-decal. There's also the fixation for the lauthing gas bottle... GT-Alex 11-28-2003, 11:36 AM GT-Alex 12-03-2003, 11:02 AM A little update of the project. The interior is almost finished i'm playing with the harness for now and i have to paint the autometer tacho and it will be completed. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/111698sub_8-med.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/111698sub_9-med.jpg I also started the body paint. It's testor's candy red + a touch of tamiya X-32 gold titanium. It's not as dark as i wished but in real it's darker than than. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/111698sub_10-med.jpg Any comments or suggestion are welcome. By the way for the seat i hesitate between black and red. chrismcgee 12-03-2003, 11:07 AM quickest way to lower the sti is as i did it, file off the mounting lugs on the suspension arms (where the disc mounts), then add a 2mm diameter spacer into the slot where the rod fits. cut away any plastic thats in the way of the axel. re fit discs and glue, lowered and only takes a few mins, easy GT-Alex 12-03-2003, 11:16 AM Yes but i prefer the hard way. For the front susp. i'm going to build complete new triangles instead of the stock arm ! I must be mad... EMAXX 12-04-2003, 09:05 AM Looks really good dude. Lots of detail in the interior. Keep us posted. GT-Alex 12-05-2003, 01:32 PM Just a little-little update: body painted and polished. Pics are photoshoped to show how it'll look with CF-decals on hood and trunk. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/111698sub_11-med.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/111698sub_12-med.jpg Here you can see the air diffusor under the rear spoiler. I decided to make the seat red, but I can't motivate myself to do the harness :disappoin :feedback: impreza2k2 12-06-2003, 09:13 PM wow it looks pretty good so far, i like it. keep it up!! GT-Alex 12-07-2003, 08:51 AM Thanks impeza2k2, the body is almost finished, i made the head and taillights, the widows frames, and today i'll apply CF on the hood, trunk, and diffusor. I'll post pics once it's done. sweetwhiteCAV 12-07-2003, 09:19 AM very good progress, what color is the body? GT-Alex 12-07-2003, 10:31 AM I already said it, it's testors candy red + tamiya gold titanium. GT-Alex 12-08-2003, 08:53 PM I finally see the end of the tunnel ! The body is finished with CF decals on the hood, trunk, and diffusor ( it took me hours to do it :bloated: ). Everything have been clear coated and waxed then to protect it. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/111698sub_14-med.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/111698sub_13-med.jpg I had a bad surprise when fited the body and the interior on the chassi : i didn't take the tickness of the windows when building the roll cage, and now i have to file it at the 4 upper angles :chair: http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/111698sub_15-med.jpg I still have to make the harness to complete the interior :headshake , then the chassi and maybe a wing and it will be finished at last. By the way if you have an idea for the rims colour, because i'm not convinced by the alu look, maybe gold or anthracite. :feedback: jgmodelcars 12-08-2003, 09:47 PM Looking good, go with some.... dark gunmetal or anthracite wheels! I like the rear diffusor and carbon details coming out nicely! GT-Alex 12-08-2003, 09:53 PM Tanks but to be honest there are some mitakes on the hood ( why did i puttied the air intake ?). I think of dark wheels too, i will do a little photoshop to test it ( a good way to see what the mods will look though !). EMAXX 12-09-2003, 09:09 AM It looks good. Mabye some black rims will go nicely with the red of the car, or there is always gunmetal. GT-Alex 12-23-2003, 01:39 PM Ok, here are the last pics before completion. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/111698sub_19.jpg Finally i went with gunmetal wheels, and added the tire valves. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/111698sub_17.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/111698sub_18.jpg All i have to do is to add the harness :banghead: and make the exhaust piping. I hope you'll tell me what you think, i take a break in modeling until new year. So merry christmas and happy new year everybody :p Wes Moran 12-23-2003, 01:54 PM Thats a super clean WRX and I think Ill build my JACCS Accord similar to it, but what made u decide to paint the under body blue??? (Just wondering) it looks good anyway. GT-Alex 12-23-2003, 08:12 PM I think when you saw the underbody blue it wasn't painted yet, but now it's done, it's the same color as the body. anyway thank you for the compliment, although as usuall i messed some things  Zcaithaca 12-23-2003, 08:37 PM looks sweet but two ?s...are those seats stock with the kit and also howed u make that no2 bottle GT-Alex 12-24-2003, 07:24 AM Thanks, the seat is from an escort cosworth i think (picked out of my spare box) and the N2O bottle is made from a fire extingisher with a styrene tube and a valve made from a PE tree. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
