PROGRESS: 95 Eclipse (F&F)sweetwhiteCAV 11-22-2003, 08:04 PM While im waiting for my top coat to dry, i thought id post some pics of the details to get you excited... this is my second model ever, so please dont laugh at me... http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/75366clipse_017.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/75366clipse_020.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/75366clipse_021.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/75366clipse_023.jpg SchuberT 11-22-2003, 08:10 PM looks good to me... cant wait to see the body sweetwhiteCAV 11-22-2003, 09:41 PM I just realized how the title of this thread could be misleading. this is an AMT F&F kit, but i filled in the holes for the wing and sanded off the hood pins and I am in the process of painting the car Saphire Blue with metal flake(Model Masters). i have also painted the wheels white (Tamiya). Other than that, im keepin it box stock. the body should be ready to be polished tomarrow so I'll update then. XspudX 11-22-2003, 10:29 PM Hows the detail on the engine included with this one? Worth it enough to buy the kit just for the engine?(gonna place it in a Fujimi Evo VIII model) 86_SR5 11-22-2003, 10:46 PM no, so I've heard the AMT eclipse is shit engine wise, not a 4g63, it has the neon motor in it. The revell metal body plastic build up kit has the correct turbo-ed 4g63 engine. I can post pics of mine, if you'd like. BTW, CAV, did you clear coat your rims? sweetwhiteCAV 11-23-2003, 09:56 AM yeah, i am less than impressed with the detail under the hood. but i got the kit for $8 so i cant complain... p.s. Im gonna post some pics of the body freshly painted later today p.p.s. i didnt clear coat the rims, i just put 4 coats of X-2 for a more convincing white vwman 11-23-2003, 10:14 AM Nice engine :smokin: sweetwhiteCAV 11-23-2003, 11:04 AM as i promised, here are some body shots. its not quite dry enough to dry fit and see how it'll look with the white wheels. I'd just like to thank P-Man for his wonderful tutorials, this woulndt be possible without them... http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/75366clipse_025.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/75366clipse_028.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/75366clipse_029.jpg I only wish you guys could see how beautiful that color is, but my digi cam is garbage... 86_SR5 11-23-2003, 12:17 PM CAV, pearl clear coat them rims and the body, and you'll have a work of art, the paint looks very nice as is, but would look better IMHO. sweetwhiteCAV 11-23-2003, 03:36 PM okay i just got back from my local hobby shop where i purchased some subs, flocking and styrene card. but theres a problem, i wanted to make a sub box, but ,well , look... http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/75366clipse_030.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/75366clipse_033.jpg Ive never seen 20" subs before but...now im thinking about deep sixing the back seats and maybe scratch building some amps for the trunk. or just make a box for one. i dunno... MR-2RaCeR 11-23-2003, 04:52 PM you could have bought sum subs from me :) sweetwhiteCAV 11-23-2003, 06:25 PM i dunno maybe i will buy some. Im thinkin about savin these for some other project. sweetwhiteCAV 11-24-2003, 10:55 PM well i decided to use one of the subs i bought even if it looks weird. but now i have nowhere to put the amp. oh well. i started the interior today and being that i get a week off of school for the holiday, i should be done by the end of the weekend. maybe, i dont wanna rush... http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/75366clipse.jpg Kasso 11-24-2003, 11:44 PM nice. very unique!!! see if the amps will look good across the back seats. sweetwhiteCAV 11-25-2003, 11:22 PM i made some springs for it today http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/75366clipse_038.jpg but when i tried to dry fit them onto the frame, i found that there was no room between the wheel well and the strut so it wont fit with the springs on, im thinkin about grinding it out until it fits, or maybe just cut a whole in the frame for them to fit. 86_SR5 11-26-2003, 02:33 PM do what you have to to make it work. supramike420 11-27-2003, 10:43 AM i actually like the sup like that and i think the ammp will look good on the back seat supramike420 11-27-2003, 10:47 AM whoops my bad *sub* :grinno: sweetwhiteCAV 11-30-2003, 01:57 PM been a while since i posted progress pics, so here goes. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/75366clipse_058.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/75366clipse_053.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/75366clipse_056.jpg the body is only resting on the fram thats why its sitting so high. also, i cant make up my mind where to put the Nitrous tank at, any ideas? 86_SR5 11-30-2003, 02:01 PM Is there a lil hump behind the center console that goes to the back seat? If so, Put it there. sweetwhiteCAV 11-30-2003, 02:03 PM thats where i was thinking, but because the hand brake is one the other side of the console, it makes everything look crowded. 86_SR5 11-30-2003, 02:05 PM Don't put it on the console, put it behind, or does the console stretch across to the backseat? sweetwhiteCAV 11-30-2003, 02:08 PM i went ahead and put it on the hump that goes to the back seats. (the console streches back all the way to the back seat) thats the only place i can see to put it. 86_SR5 11-30-2003, 02:52 PM hmm, yet another AMT mistake, well maybe since the years are different, that's why, because in my 91 GS, the console didn't stretch to the rear seats. sweetwhiteCAV 11-30-2003, 03:00 PM this whole kit is nothing but a mistake. so i would guess your right. btw, this is my last progress post, im going to clear coat the body and polish it and finish all the little last minute things and I'll post a Finished thread sometime this week. thanks to everyone for their input and help. 86_SR5 11-30-2003, 03:12 PM that's cool, btw those aren't the rims & tires that come with the kit huh? sweetwhiteCAV 12-02-2003, 04:19 PM those are the tires and rims that came with the kit, i just painted the rims white... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
