IS a turbo worth it??

I got a 99ls and i was thinkin of gettin a turbo. But i kno wif i get the kit i will still ned to buy lots of other things like Exhuast..turbo timer..hondata...and theres more of course..just to make sure my engine doesnt break down on me. Should i just get intake ..headers..exhuast..pulleys..cams..and some internals..do new pistons give u extra HP?? WHich route is better...tell me stories bout how u decided!!
