1997 silverado z71 4wd. Not sure what axel i have? anyone tell me how i can figure it out? The ring and pinyon in the rear end are really chewed up. Im wondering if i should just replace the gears and stuff or just go to a junk yard and get a full axel. Anyone know of anywhere cheap to buy differential parts, or have some forsale? Thanks

look at the option code in your glove box, axle ratio starts with GU6=3:42

I have a 97 Z71 silverado 4x4 and my axle is a 14-bolt 9.5" with 3.73 gears. and gears would defiantly be a cheaper option
