I have a 73' Plymouth Valiant. My dad has a 80' Malibu. Here are specs for both, tell me which would win in the 1/4.

My Valiant:
2100 stall converter, 3.90 gears
273 bored .040 over
stock ports and valves-1.78, 1.50
Comp cams solid lifter, specs: 224@.050'' and .468'' lift
9.3:1 compression
adjustable aluminum roller rockers
mallory unilite ditributor and coil
accel 300+ 8.8mm plug wires
***100 shot N20(edelbrock performer kit)

Dad's Malibu:
2400 stall, 3.73 gears
307 bored .030 over
Power pack heads, heavily ported and big valves(for a 307)-1.84, 1.60
Comp cams solid lifter, specs:248@.050'' duration and .525'' lift
10:1 compression
accel wires
NO nitrous

I think both cars weigh about the same. If there is any more info needed to make a judgement call let me know. This is also assuming good traction off the line, and same skill level drivers.

My guess is that the Valiant would be faster. They seem about evenly matched, but the Nitrous would definitely give the Valiant an edge.

Well he hasn't finished restoring the Malibu yet(no engine in), and I don't have the Nitrous kit yet.
We are both pretty equal drivers, he taught me.

LOL, yeah I hope so. It actually has a 305 in it now, not running. Both the Malibu and Valiant need a paint job. I'll see if I can take some pics tomorrow. I do have a pic of the engine, when it was in my truck. But I can't seem to upload images. WTF?

id say on motor the malibu, but no2 would definitly turn the tables if you give enough fuel with high enough octane. that is of cours as long as the motor could handle it. no2 has grenaded more motors than blowers turbos and mostly everything else combined. it would certainly be fun though.

just curious. is this a hypothetical question or do you really have that nitrous setup in your car. the only reason i ask, (and i may be way off here because i am really not very familiar with that specific engine) id think bored 40 over would leave the cylinder walls way to hin to pump that much nitrous into.

I'm sorry, I hate to be negative -- but with those engines, why bother?

It sounds to me like yours is a little better, but a Malibu is very nice. Could I see some pictures?

Without the nitrous, I'd say that your dad's malibu is probably faster, especially considering the porting. Without very exact engine specs I couldn't get a perfect comparison, but from the numbers you posted, Dyno 2000 has your Valiant making about 310hp at 6,000 w/o nitrous and your dad making 392hp @ 6000, with the big difference coming from the porting and valve size. While I can't be certain of the complete accuracy of anything simulated, my guess would be that naturally aspirated your dad would win, but with the nitrous you shold have a moderate advantage, assuming you'll be getting enough fuel for complete combustion.

Bad news guys, I've given up on the resto of the valiant. Sold everything, including the 273.

He's still got the malibu. So maybe someday we can make a face-off of my daytona and the malibu. I plan to have about 300 WHP in the daytona. He would kill me off the line though! We better make this a rolling race!

lol like I said, the Dyno software isn't all its cracked up to be...

Despite that, my money is still on the Valiant with nitrous, as the boost is gonna be hard to beat.

I still have pics of the valiant in the resto phase, can somebody host them for me? I cannot figure out how to attach the pics. If I could email them to somebody, and they post them that would be great.
