Hello to all. I am a newbie here. I would like to say that this is great forum. I have been lurking around and have been impressed. I am here to ask for help like all newbies.

My wife has a 93 civic ex,automatic,4dr.
I have a 90 accord lx 4dr automatic.

The problem I have is with the civic. I started it up fine this morning to warm it up. After about 15 minutes I shut the car off and went back inside. When my wife went to start it, it just clicked, and the starter would not turn like if it was stuck. I tried rocking it to see if it would help free the starter turn. Well it did not help. I looked at the starter and noticed a black wire unplugged. I plugged it back in and still no go. The starter just makes a clicking noise once every turn of the key to start. I need to fix this during the week and I don't want to have it towed$$$$$ to the shop. If you can help me I would appreciate it. I will check back on monday afternoon so I will try anything.

yea battery or starter problem - if the battery has enough juice, tap the starter with a hammer while trying to start.

Thanks guys/girls. I was looking at the battery as possible culprit and it shows some oxidation and corrosion. I am going to pull the battery out tomorrow and have it tested as well as replacing the positive terminal. I will report back on the status and if it is the starter or not.

More than likely, you have a bad wire, connection or ground. Usually your battery won't die that fast unless you left an accessory or interior light on. That could drain your battery quickly in colder weather. Good luck if you haven't solved the problem already.

Well the car has started. I went to my garage and tried a few turns of the key and BAM it started. I think the problem is a combnation of multiple factors. First the battery is old, second the cables (+) AND (-) are corroded and the termonals don't tighten well. Third the car has 180000 plus miles on it and forth the starter is most likely going to die. I want to thank all of you for the not ignoring me as a NEWBIE.

Don't let the milage fool you these Hondas can go far...and for little $$...
My son has the car now, he is 16 and it is his second car...we live in Minnesota so a good battery is a must...in all my vehicles I have used Sears Die Hard batteries...approx. $75. also, Sears will service and check your battery...buy cleaning the cable ends and applying coating to keep them from corrosion...Best Wishes...Do good...MJohn

Happy New Year.
I ahve changed all the above battery cables. The actual problem was the negative connector that goes to the starter was not making a proper connection. The rubber boot was not allowing the plug to go in all the way and the terminal was open ever so slightly that it would fall out from the driving conditions. I am replacing the starter and the cable to the starter in a few days since the I have no current need to drive this car right now.

Thanks
