Which car should i choose?A-1Performance 11-15-2003, 08:38 PM sup people. its been awhile since i was last up in here and i see alot has been poppin since. now to the subject, im thinkin of gettin rid of my car and get something newer and more reliable. the civic i have right now has been a headache for the most part im just fed up dealing with it. now which car do you think i should go with as my next? I really dont plan on doing any serious engine modifications but maybe a few minor modifications here and there.. right now i have the 98-02 accord coupe in mind but i am willing to get somethin else if the price is right and the car is in a-1 shape mechanically  The selections are listed above for yall to vote AkLWyzeGuy4711 11-15-2003, 08:50 PM I dunno about anyone else, but I'd go with the Prelude. Because, check it: Looks: Sweet Engine: Sweet Drivetrain: ...uh...FWDs can kinda kill you in a race... Overall: Sweet...not considering drivetrain. If you want something like the prelude but RW, then go for da Nissan. A-1Performance 11-15-2003, 08:54 PM I dunno about anyone else, but I'd go with the Prelude. Because, check it: Looks: Sweet Engine: Sweet Drivetrain: ...uh...FWDs can kinda kill you in a race... Overall: Sweet...not considering drivetrain. If you want something like the prelude but RW, then go for da Nissan. From what i hear. If you put bits of the Civic and mix it with some Accord, you get a Prelude. I also hear that the 2.2 motor isnt as reliable as the other honda motors. Dont know if its true...maybe someone on this forum can clarify or correct this rumor. mjshort18 11-15-2003, 10:43 PM go with the prelude or the civic si BullShifter 11-16-2003, 02:37 AM Go with the RWD 240SX, just because its RWD. After that I'd go with the Si then Integra usi_mach 11-16-2003, 04:01 AM why don't you get an ACURA RSX TYPE S, those are pritty sweet cars, look nice, great engines, lots to modify if wanted, 6 speed i belive, pritty good all around Thepeug 11-17-2003, 12:39 PM 240sx with sr20 or rb25 swap. Lots of power and RWD. GScivic7 11-17-2003, 03:34 PM the 240 without question, once you drive a rwd car, you'll never want to go back to fwd civicgs-r 11-19-2003, 08:01 AM civic si...if u wanna drift then get the rwd...if u want to street race get the si or the teg... http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid89/p26e07e5c4798f37a9f01c6f74174b115/fa862102.jpghttp://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid89/pc59abba92836d21ccd289faadccc1b45/fa8620ff.jpg mycivic 11-19-2003, 11:29 AM go for the lude or SI. i want either one of those cars. A-1Performance 11-19-2003, 01:39 PM I sorta do want the Civic Si but i just hate the fact that i see them EVERYWHERE!! But if ever come across an awesome deal for onei, i may consider getting it. Other than that, im hoping that an 98-02 accord pops right in front of my eyes with a deal that i cant lose on. Ricochet 11-19-2003, 01:59 PM Blue Preludes are some of the sickest looking Hondas imo, you should get a type sh. They're powerful enough being stock, and with fwd snow driving won't be as much of a problem as the Nissan. If I could afford the insurance I would buy a blue Prelude if it was in a used car lot I pass by. Fliquer 11-19-2003, 03:14 PM If you're not going to be racing or drifting then you dont need a 240sx. For street driving, an integra will provide you with just as many thrills - plus its more reliable and parts are cheaper for it. brandtson 11-19-2003, 03:28 PM preludes come fast out of the box, but there aren't as many parts as civics. accord coupes are very nice, although you can't get a 5 speed 6-cyl. But you can swap out the tranny and put in the cl 6-speed tranny. if you put a vortech supercharger in a civic si you can pump out 272 hp on stock boost. so it all depends on how fast you want your car. Dude said he's not going to hook up his car. Preludes are on a good middle ground of power and cost. mjshort18 11-19-2003, 03:43 PM :iagree: very true MexSiR 11-19-2003, 06:24 PM Get my car. The 240sx looks to old IMO. BullShifter 11-19-2003, 07:48 PM civic si...if u wanna drift then get the rwd...if u want to street race get the si or the teg... Just because it's a RWD car doen't mean its gonna be a "drift" car. Drifting is about the last thing I would do in the Vette since its eats tires, besides that under racing condition "drifting" is usually slower. RWD WILL always have an advantage over FWD(besides traction in the snow - if your worried about get an SUV) FWD 99.5% of the time has understeer as a natural condition, torque steer, & bad weight distribution - just to name a few. FWD can still be fun if set-up correctly, my Civic handles almost as good as my vette(in a different way) its just too bad the civic aint got power like my vette :2cents: Thepeug 11-23-2003, 01:36 PM Get my car. The 240sx looks to old IMO. A '98 240 looks too old? Maybe you're thinking of the previous generation. The 240 has a combination of things that make it hard to beat: 1) At 2800 lbs, it weighs the same as the teg, and is much lighter than the prelude. 2) RWD. Enough said. 3) IMO, it looks great, even stock. 4) While the stock KA engine is very tunable, it's harder to get big hp numbers out of than an SR. Get a fairly new SR swap for $3000, switch out the stock turbo for a bigger one, and you'd be pushing 300 hp easily (depending on the turbo). An SR can handle 500 whp on stock internals. GScivic7 11-24-2003, 01:28 AM The SR's are capable of making more power than the KA, but the KA has .5 more liters than the SR = more torque. And if he isn't power hungry, a turboed KA would be more than adequate. I still say go for the 240, RWD rules Jetts 11-24-2003, 06:54 PM si coupe fully built with a vortec supercharger JDMDrft 11-24-2003, 06:58 PM The Prelude is good especially if you can find the sh b/c it has an lsd not found in other models, but being a nissan fan I would definatly go with the 240 Thepeug 11-24-2003, 06:59 PM Maybe we're thinking about two different engines, but a stock KA does not have more torque than an SR. A '98 240 has 155 hp and 160 lbs of torque, whereas an SR has 200 hp and 205 lbs of torque. I agree that for many people, a turboed KA is plenty fast enough. For the JDM enthusiast, however, an SR Silvia conversion is the way to go. Obviously, it's all a matter of personal preference and goals. JDMDrft 11-24-2003, 07:05 PM the KA does have more torque than the SR but the SR is not only a more capable engine, it is also lighter (aliminum block) which is why its choice for drifters because it gives the car a much better front to rear weight ratio Thepeug 11-24-2003, 08:24 PM OK, I"m not that familiar with Nissan engines, so I'm probably just wrong about this torque thing, but can someone show me some specs comparing the SR and the KA? I did a search on google, and couldn't find any torque measurements for the SR in lb/ft. The only torque measurements I found were in kgm, which I assume is the Japanese standard for measuring torque. If someone can show me some specs in lb/ft, or convert kgm for me, I'd really appreciate it. JDMDrft 11-24-2003, 08:31 PM for sr and other possible 240sx engine swap info look at the faqs on SRswaps.com or you could just check out the 240 section of nissan forums on this page and read the current 240 faqs forum that is being worked on right now, that will tell you all you need to know and more Thepeug 11-24-2003, 08:34 PM Ok, thanks a lot. JDMDrft 11-24-2003, 08:36 PM any more q's just ask Ricochet 11-25-2003, 01:53 PM I don't think you guys read the part where he said he's not really going to mod it... chris26969 11-25-2003, 06:07 PM i say the 99-00 Civic si... btw they didnt make them 96-00.... Thepeug 11-25-2003, 06:16 PM I don't think you guys read the part where he said he's not really going to mod it... You're right, I forgot about that. In that case, I'd have go with a Prelude (unless the Integra is a Type R  ). It has a decent amount of power, and I really like the styling. youngvr4 11-25-2003, 07:22 PM you know i never knew the 240sx was rwd, get that i would its gonna be a whole lot funner GScivic7 11-25-2003, 08:06 PM Maybe we're thinking about two different engines, but a stock KA does not have more torque than an SR. A '98 240 has 155 hp and 160 lbs of torque, whereas an SR has 200 hp and 205 lbs of torque. I agree that for many people, a turboed KA is plenty fast enough. For the JDM enthusiast, however, an SR Silvia conversion is the way to go. Obviously, it's all a matter of personal preference and goals. i shall look into this, i could have sworn the KA has more torque. BTW: I still say the 240 even if you don't mod it, RWD>FWD EDIT: You were right, I couldn't get an exact number, but the consensus seems to be around 205 ft/lbs. I stand corrected :worshippy SiGNAL748 11-25-2003, 08:47 PM I say 240 or lude if you get the 240, try to find an SE, it comes with an lsd. Thepeug 11-30-2003, 02:21 AM i shall look into this, i could have sworn the KA has more torque. BTW: I still say the 240 even if you don't mod it, RWD>FWD EDIT: You were right, I couldn't get an exact number, but the consensus seems to be around 205 ft/lbs. I stand corrected :worshippy Haha, I thought I'd gone crazy for a minute! Anyways, thanks for checking on those numbers. BTW, I know this is random, but my bro just finished and SR swap. For anyone who has done one, were you satisfied with the results? Personally, I noticed a change, but the power gain wasn't quite what I expected. Maybe my expectations were a little too high... behvah78 11-30-2003, 02:33 AM If i were you i would buy a Mazda3 or a protege with hatchback :D JDMDrft 11-30-2003, 06:09 PM mazda speed cars are pretty tight but a stock protege is shitty compared to a 240 JDMDrft 11-30-2003, 06:13 PM oh yeah, SRs are better engines for drifting in which power isn't all that great of a factor the best selling point of an SR20 over an RB20 is that its an aluminum block. the RBs are better for straight line racing. And stock, the SRs torque is greater than the KA but over all the KA has better torque compared to its other stats after all it is also the truck motor GScivic7 12-01-2003, 04:28 AM Haha, I thought I'd gone crazy for a minute! Anyways, thanks for checking on those numbers. BTW, I know this is random, but my bro just finished and SR swap. For anyone who has done one, were you satisfied with the results? Personally, I noticed a change, but the power gain wasn't quite what I expected. Maybe my expectations were a little too high... the only swapped 240 i've ridden in so far had a turbo kit bolted on during the process so I really don't know what to expect out of a stock SR, but damn I'll tell you this turboed 240 was pretty fast. Thepeug 12-01-2003, 10:16 AM My brother just has the stock turbo right now. It's definitely quick; I just didn't feel that much of a boost after the turbo had spooled. The BOV sure sounded sweet, though :iceslolan . Beastiek2 01-12-2004, 12:45 PM Are we looking at a V6 accord , type R integra, cause then deffinitly get the teg..otherwise the SI is sleak has great potential and who cares if everyone has one always make yours the best this is all a game of performance and skill good luck with your choice 95civicCX 01-12-2004, 12:45 PM Are you gonna be going with a V6 Accord? My vote's with the lude though, not too many of those running around. Zwrangler 01-14-2004, 03:42 PM I vote the 240 sx. Its got all the others beat in sotck looks and has pretty damn good performance and well, its rwd which makes a huge difference. Since its not gonna be modded i definetely think the 240 sx is the best of the bunch when stock. mugenr4 01-22-2004, 12:39 PM why not keep your civic and swap in a h22 and get an older 240 just to have it all :). BUt my vote would be a gsr 95civicCX 01-23-2004, 01:06 PM I still think that he said he's NOT GOING TO MOD THE CAR. I'm still baffeled by the stupidity of some of these people... :banghead: mugenr4 01-23-2004, 02:12 PM If you read the whole post, I did say my vote would be a teg gsr. Try not to just look at the post but actually comprehend it. GScivic7 01-23-2004, 07:51 PM one thing all of you guys have to notice is that this thread is a few months old and the guy never posts here anymore dampachi 01-25-2004, 09:34 PM If you're not look to make a racecar and basically just want a car that you can cruise around in and get on it every now and then...I'd say go for the accord coupe or the 'lude. dampachi 01-25-2004, 09:37 PM Oh yeah...this thread is deadddddddddd. A-1Performance 02-07-2004, 06:23 PM I appreciate the input and advice guys. I will let you guys know what my new ride is soon as i get it. right now i've been so busy with school and work that i really havent found the time to look around. I may just wait till my school term is over so that ways i can look carefully and not make the same mistake i did last time xproductionz 02-27-2004, 02:56 PM in all honestly if its reliability your worried about i would rather stay with the civics, the preludes, or integras only because its easier to fix and theres more parts readily available for it.. and if you decide to add some small touches to it like maybe an intake or exhaust then u can find it almost anywhere..but per se you decide you want to put more power into your car later... then you can go do your engine swaps and forced induction and nos and whatever you heart feels like doing.. as you said you wanted something a-1 mechanic..but that my opinion so dont quote me on that .. :) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
