Viper = 40 valves or 20 valves ?DemoX 11-15-2003, 10:10 AM Hi.. Does the viper have 40 Valves or 20 valves.... I don't know much about the viper.... Cheers Bo Sørensen... DemoX 12-11-2003, 02:29 PM Don't you guys know it? Viper 10 12-11-2003, 08:01 PM The Viper has 20 valves or 2 per cylinder. In order for it to have 40 valves, it would require a multi-cam layout. DemoX 12-12-2003, 06:34 AM thanks... can the engine be modified to DOHC? or is that TOO Much trouble? Cheers Viper 10 12-13-2003, 03:37 PM thanks... can the engine be modified to DOHC? or is that TOO Much trouble? Cheers It is way too much trouble and negatively effects the reliability of the engine. Too many moving parts. That's why Ferrari's need top end rebuilds after 10,000 miles (that cost $29,000). Not worth going that route. The V-10 is an evolution of the 360 V-8 from the 1960's, that they made into aluminum and added 2 cylinders onto the end of it. The bore and stroke are almost identical, and are equally reliable. They are bullet proof. DemoX 12-13-2003, 05:44 PM i have always thought that it was better to have 4 or 5 valves per cylinder instead of 2 valves per cylinders.... I guess i was wrong then or am I? Cheers Viper 10 12-16-2003, 01:04 AM i have always thought that it was better to have 4 or 5 valves per cylinder instead of 2 valves per cylinders.... I guess i was wrong then or am I? Cheers Only when you are limited to displacement (as in Europe). When you can go with bigger displacement, there is little need for an engine that rev's to 10,000 rpm, when you get your power at the low end. Multi-cam engines are notorious for generating much less torque than bigger displacement American engines. On top of this, American emgines can achieve the same mileage numbers without trading off reliability. I just saw a modified 360 Ferrari generate 317 RWHP and 280 lb-ft of RWTQ, compared to my bone stock Viper that turns 437 RWHP and 477 RWTQ. All I have are K&N filters and smooth intake tubes. Talk about Ferrari's being overrated.... :loser: :loser: Brad VenomInMyVeins 12-23-2003, 12:03 AM Viper 10... where are you from?
