I have an '03 Spec v with 9000 miles and I am in the process of having my second radio installed at the dealer. The original shorted out in September -replaced under warr.- and know the same issue with the second! It seems like moisture is getting into the sytem somehow? I haven't taken it apart because I don't wna the dealer screaming at me that I voided the factory warr. Does anyone know if the AC system runs right behind the radio, and if so could condensation build up on the electronics? I want to upgrade the system, but not if my new and expensive stuff is going fry too!

The stock radio just sucks, I doubt it was caused by moisture, if that's what the dealer said they're probably just blowing smoke up your ass to make themselves look better.

An aftermarket system will be fine, out of the hundred or more people I've talked to with b15's and aftermarket headunits I haven't heard of one that shorted out because of water or condensation.

I thought that the condensation was a little sketchy! I looked at the unit VERY carefully this week and am beginning to think that the dealer was somehow able to fix the original and may not have put in the "new" one that they ordered. HOw do you remove the faceplate in order to compare numbers or to leave a mark so that I can be sure they repalce it this time?

Well the easiest way would be to pop open your compartment on the top, grab it, and pull straight towards the rear of the car. It just snaps off, and then you have a clean look at the top of the radio. Just take a black sharpie or something and put a little dot on it somewhere.

Thanks! I'll try it tomorrow.
