Used 323 what to look forbigjad2001 11-09-2003, 10:46 AM Have an opportunity to purchase a 2000 323 with 50k miles. The price is good but I've never owned a BMW before. Two questions: 1. Any knows issues/common problems with this model/year? 2. What are the repair costs like compared to other manufacturers. My current mechanic deals with mostly domestic models. Will I need to take it to a garage specializing in BMW? joeyloey 11-13-2003, 01:22 PM I bought a 99 323 last yr with similar mileage. I was previously a Honda Accord owner. The BMW parts are more $ than Honda's, but are easily available and serviceable. The local BMW dealer is way too expensive, but my local auto parts supplier has filters, batteries, etc. for this car for reasonable $. Hope this helps. drjoe 11-13-2003, 02:44 PM I bought a 2000 323i w/41k miles this past summer. Previous Jeep driver. I Love it. Could have gone with a little more pep (328 or 330) but the price was right. As for what to look for: as long as you consult with a mechanic to look at brakes, tranny, engine, etc...you should be OK. Also, do a carfax report, check wear on tires, brakes, etc... (@50k most likely needs new tires if not already replaced) these may affect your offer... Take it for a loooong test drive (24hrs) and put it through its paces if there are any defects, chances are you'll find them... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
