stop light trouble shooting on an 95 altima

i have a 95 altima that is leaving the stop lights on. i have replaced the brake light switch, but the problem still is still there. does anyone have anty idea of what may be causing the problem..or where i could go on line for help? i am a do it yourself type. : :banghead:

check your brake pedal adjustment it might have to much freeplay maybe not enough to start braking the car but enough to close the circuit to light the brake light up .

Im having the same problem, i got under there and played with the switch, the brake lights stay on when the switch is depressed, not depressed and even when the switch is removed entirely, does anyone have any suggestion to this problem??

See The Last Thread, There Are 2 Rubber Plugs That Go Bad Where The Upper Brake Pedal Contact The Brake Light Switch & The Cut Off Switch For The Cruise Control, That Break & Fall Out. These Need To Be Replaced With A New Plug, Or I Just Used A Short Bolt & Nut. If Your Switch Button Just Sticks Thru A Hole In The Brake Pedal Bracket, Then The Rubber Plug Fell Out & Your Lights Wont Turn Off Till This Is Done.
