1993 honda civic cx good or bad90LShatch 11-04-2003, 09:34 PM i found a 1993 civic cx with 154k miles on it is $1900 good for a price it looks pretty clean. plus mainly i would just get it for racing since i would drive my gsr daily. what kind of weight does a cx weigh and are they good for racing like empty it out and put a turbo ls with nitrous and just tweak the car to hit 12's if its not a good deal then i will probably save for my crx that i want thanks for the info Dumped91Hatch 11-04-2003, 09:44 PM I personaly would go for crx because it is the lighter of the two. But the cx's are the lightest model for those years. So it is all up to you. kicker1_solo 11-05-2003, 12:09 AM you have a gsr and you want to make a civic cx fast? lol I have this ferrari that I use for a daily driver, but I want a race car so I think I'm gonna pimp out my old ford pinto. :eek7: Miataracer 11-05-2003, 12:17 AM lol kicker i got a good laugh out of that... but 1900 for a relatively good car sounds pretty nice to me Ricochet 11-05-2003, 10:11 AM Whatever you do to the Civic, doing the same to the CRX would make it faster. if its not a good deal then i will probably save for my crx that i want thanks for the info A CRX will be way cheaper than a '93 Civic, why would you have to save for one? And you're talking about turbo/engine swap/nitrous but you have to save up for a $1000 (at most) CRX? mtdxx 11-05-2003, 12:22 PM :disappoin I do not think 90LShatch came here to be judged... I say go for the CX if that is what you want to do! kicker1_solo 11-05-2003, 08:42 PM Ever thought about making your gsr the race car and the civic your daily driver? If you spend the same amount on the gsr it would be MUCH faster than what you could do to the civic. Just a thought.... Thepeug 11-06-2003, 11:00 AM A CRX in good conditon for less than $1000? I'd like to see that... Ricochet 11-06-2003, 12:33 PM I see CRX's in car lots here and there for $500 in somewhat descent condition.. just sorta guesstimated. Thepeug 11-06-2003, 12:38 PM Seriously? Man, around here they go for $2000+. They're prettty rare, though, so maybe that's part of it. BLU CIVIC 11-06-2003, 12:44 PM all depends on ur area Ricochet 11-06-2003, 12:49 PM Maybe every one I've seen has had major internal damage or something then. If I could go back to when I bought my car I'd definitly consider a cheap little rex and do a huge engine project. They're so light and quick. There was a crx at the autocross a couple months ago tearing up the track with it's stock engine (modded, but still only had 130whp) and slicks all the way around. http://files.automotiveforums.com/attaches/71957/36023.attach Thepeug 11-06-2003, 02:29 PM Maybe every one I've seen has had major internal damage or something then. Ideally, I'd like to find a shell for a couple hundred and then do the swap. Unfortunately, most cars without engines are neglected and turn into rusting hulks of metal. Becusae CRX's are so old, it's important to find a body that's been well-maintained; unfortunately, most well-maintained bodies mean a well-maintained engine, which jacks the price up. Ricochet 11-06-2003, 03:00 PM True, but for the price of a let's say $1500 rex, roughly $3k in body work, $3k for an engine and $4k for a turbo/buncha mods, $2500 for wheels/suspension, the price is about par with a new Civic DX, but could easily walk all over almost anything on the road, autocross, and 1/4. Sounds like a good investment to me for an enthusiast, especially one with a second car and money to spend. BLU CIVIC 11-06-2003, 03:21 PM i'd do it.....someone spot me some money Thepeug 11-06-2003, 04:01 PM True, but for the price of a let's say $1500 rex, roughly $3k in body work, $3k for an engine and $4k for a turbo/buncha mods, $2500 for wheels/suspension, the price is about par with a new Civic DX, but could easily walk all over almost anything on the road, autocross, and 1/4. Sounds like a good investment to me for an enthusiast, especially one with a second car and money to spend. I totally agree with you, but what about for a first car? A rex is a great enthusiast car, but it is a bit old. For a college student with $3000 for a car and eventually saving up for a b16: CRX or EG hatch? Ricochet 11-06-2003, 06:17 PM Saving for a first car I would take the EG hatch. This guy already has a gsr though, and is looking for a track star. Thepeug 11-06-2003, 08:11 PM Thanks fro the input. I'm still really torn between the two. I'll probably get whichever one comes along first at a good price. 93fury 11-07-2003, 12:14 PM But the REX has such a short wheel base, hope your not doing high speed passes! Ricochet 11-07-2003, 12:55 PM The one in the pic I posted had an extended wheelbase, but yeah stock kinda sucks. Thepeug 11-07-2003, 01:15 PM I know this sounds retarded, but can you explain how the length of the wheelbase affects passing? Is it unstable at high speeds or something? Ricochet 11-07-2003, 02:02 PM I guess you could spin out easier? I don't really know why he said it either.. 90LShatch 11-10-2003, 01:00 AM the reason i dont make my gsr into a race car cause i want something with a lighter platform to work with and dont really want to mess up my gsr and gut it like a crx or something where i wouldnt car cause its cheap. plus a daily driven gsr empty wouldnt be much fun cause i wanted with all luxery plust dont want to lose my pretty leather. also dont like to race the gsr cause second is already goin out and if it blows im screwed but thanks for the input i might just go all show with my kit in the back yard Thepeug 11-10-2003, 03:43 PM Wow, that was a long sentence. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
