New to forum - don't know much about cars except to put gas in & have the oil changed on a somewhat regular basis. Have a dealer & local garage I depend on.

Have just had a heater core leak repaired. Mechanic told me it leaked onto the carpet big time. What the best way to get it out?

I have already used a wet vac to get most of it out, then sprinkled baking soda to try to absorp the rest and vac'd that up. The carpet is still damp with antifreeze. and of course it still SMELLS!!

Any suggestions?

Two things you might want to try:

First, you should try a foaming carpet cleaner. These kinds of products are usually sold at an automotive store or K-Mart or something. I've used this stuff to get out some motor oil stains, and it worked nice. Just make sure its FOAMING.

After that, you might want to Febreze the heck out of your truck. Febreze will cover almost any smell.

If that still doesn't do the trick, I hate to say it, but you might need to have the truck reupholstered.
