Direct Power System = crap?OffroadX 11-03-2003, 10:27 AM Anyone else get queasy when it comes to this "Direct Power System" that AF is pimping? Anyone willing to risk the $15 restock fee (bet that nets 'em a profit already) plus $13 shipping plus return shipping to find out if it's actually not a joke? Brent BLU CIVIC 11-03-2003, 10:35 AM ask Igor if he brought it and if it works or to buy it and have it tested on his bronze beauty.....like a b4 and after dyno Toy Man 11-03-2003, 06:32 PM I'm "from Missouri" on this this one.' Sounds like snake oil. Toy Man OffroadX 11-04-2003, 12:19 PM Igor's comments: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=148021 Toy Man 11-04-2003, 01:52 PM I'm still from Missouri.... Hype and talk is cheap -- Show me... Toy Man igor@af 11-05-2003, 11:37 PM gentlemen, just so you all know - there is now FULL money back guarantee, including shipping both ways. So you can try it out totally risk free. 911S_TARGA_RSR 11-05-2003, 11:45 PM That Sounds like a much better offer igor igor@af 11-05-2003, 11:51 PM I would love to see what it would do to a Porsche :) (although we're in the wrong forum here :p ) evergreen 11-06-2003, 01:19 AM offroadx's comments just about sum it up for me. (quote)Yeah, no kidding. Looks to me like they'll turn a profit even on the $15 restock fee they charge the folks that are immune to the placebo effect. Anyone curious enough to try it is going to be out at least $35 after that and the $13 shipping plus return shipping. $35 is a lot to be out of pocket for something that doesn't even work... With the additional ads you've added to the pages (the "beat parking tickets" one is a real classy one) and now this dubious product (with scads of profit to kick back to you it would seem) I'm really concerned with where this forum is headed. Seems to be after the lowest common denominator in the struggle to stay afloat.(quote) all these damn adds on this site suck!! 911S_TARGA_RSR 11-06-2003, 01:21 AM I just ignore the ads. It is great that they don't have any pop ups. igor@af 11-06-2003, 06:35 AM offroadx's comments just about sum it up for me. (quote)Yeah, no kidding. But... his comments are invalid as you can see that the money back guarantee has been revised to refund you 100% of the cost including shipping both ways. And as for the 'struggle to stay afloat' - didn't know that - I guess I should listen more to the members to find out what financial situation AF is really in :screwy: Toy Man 11-06-2003, 09:54 AM Igor: Here is the crux of my problem with the product: I am an old fart and have seen a LOT of scams. The web page for this product sounds just like every scam I have ever seen. Worse actually. A page full of total gobblydook does NOT inspire confidence. Your experience may be positive but until I hear VERY postive results from people that I have some confidence in, I remain a sceptic. Send evaluations units to Brent (offroadX) or Ian Firth. If they report postive results, THEN I (and a lot of other Xterra owners) will consider purchasing the product. Toy Man - still a sceptic. Schludwiller 11-06-2003, 11:14 AM until I hear VERY postive results from people that I have some confidence in, I remain a sceptic. What am I? Milk Toast? Change your own damn oil from now on old man!! :D igor@af 11-06-2003, 11:17 AM :grinno: at Ian Toy Man - why do you want to hear Ian or Brent's experience with the DPS before purchasing it when you yourself can do exactly the same thing? Is a 100% money back guarantee including shipping charges both ways not good enough somehow? :eek7: warmonger 11-06-2003, 05:11 PM :grinno: at Ian Toy Man - why do you want to hear Ian or Brent's experience with the DPS before purchasing it when you yourself can do exactly the same thing? Is a 100% money back guarantee including shipping charges both ways not good enough somehow? :eek7: OK Igor, I have become something of an expert on sham operations being from Florida and spending damn near the whole winter in NY. Both of these are two of the biggest areas of sham operations in the world next to crappo third world countries like Nigeria. Here is my take, and you can take offense to this if you want, but I have seen more busts over this than Carter has peanuts. I don't give a flying flip if it is 100% money back guaranteed. You know why? It is only as good as the company making the offer. I don't have a great deal of faith in the company based on this. I always ask how long will the company last if they have to refund a bunch of money and who's rear will one have to kiss to get it back? I smell a class-action lawsuit here. Sorry dude, I just have seen WAY too much of this stuff working for a car dealer for a living. Before I quit the dealership I worked for, we got embroiled in a lawsuit over a "product". I made jokes with the sales dept when I was installing this "product" that I was aiding and abetting. Little did I know how true that was. We wound up losing a major class-action lawsuit that cost big bucks. I agree with Toyman and OffroadX, it smells like a sham to me. Sorry. Schludwiller 11-06-2003, 08:55 PM all these damn adds on this site suck!! I just don't like the ones on the side. I understand the need for advertising as it's a business. Things just seem to be getting cluttered. After a while it just becomes noise. If you check out XOC he's gone the same route (vertically). igor@af 11-06-2003, 08:57 PM due to the unpopularity I am leaning toward taking the vertical ads off. Schludwiller 11-07-2003, 10:39 AM due to the unpopularity I am leaning toward taking the vertical ads off. I'd be all for that Igor. I don't mind the ones on top as it's a bit of a game to see what the "targeted ads" will choose to display. Like I think Warmongers mention of "Third World countries like Nigeria" has triggered all the "feed the bears", "feed the people", and other charity ads. Usually we get "Lift Kits" or "Nissan Parts". It's a bit of a game. If we start getting feminine hygeine products I know a thread is going waay offtopic. :uhoh: OffroadX 12-13-2003, 10:54 AM Hmm, what happened to the DPS? Not a single reference to it anywhere that I can find now. Thread linked above is gone, no ads on the pages, nothing. Main page for it here: http://www.automotiveforums.com/dps.php I smell a rat... OffroadX 01-09-2004, 01:17 PM Well whaddya know, it WAS a scam. Register and read here for a laugh. Poor Igor... http://www.my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51032 Brent BLU CIVIC 01-09-2004, 01:25 PM sux....but even the best of us get scammed....but it did work....justworked the same as all the other grounding kits sideshowrich 01-09-2004, 01:47 PM $250 for a 20 amp fuse?
