My buddy got one here in Mass two years ago. It was around 600 bucks, or somewhere close to that.

Im pretty sure drag racing has the same penalties in most cities. Well here in Phoenix, Az Illegal drag racing would run you a $500 fine. 24-48 hours in jail and a 1 year license suspension and community service. Now ask yourself, Is it worth it?

ok lets be stupid! there is no such thing as a drag racing ticket as drag racing is performed legally on a controlled track with appropriate safety precautions, STREET RACING however is very stupid, illegal, and a danger to yourself and others around you,
a smart person would ask how much is admission into your local dragstrip.

Actually, the true definition of a drag race is; an acceleration contest between two cars racing from a standing start over a straight-line, quarter –mile course.

This can also be applied to the street, such as police do when they write tickets for drag racing on the street. Check your local laws, I'm sure you'll find info on this subject.

Actually you can get a ticket in PA for "Racing on highways" which includes a definition of "Drag racing".

$200 + costs (probably put you over $300) and a 6 month suspension of your license.

in my state there is no drag racing ticket just street racing because a "drag race"performed on a public road is a street race. if you want to get technical, a drag race is defined as

drag race
n.
A contest between two cars to determine which can accelerate faster from a standstill.

con·test
n.
A struggle for superiority or victory
B to compete or strive for.

so this "technically" would summarize every time someone trys to get the jump off red light regardless of your actions. if another driver struggling for superiority to determine who can accelerate faster from a stand still regardless of your participation, then that would make it a drag race, so therefore everytime a ricer wants to run you off a light you are drag racing and could be issued a ticket

P.S is it necessary for you to bust my chops in every frickin forum on every frickin post i make? because if you want to get in a battle of wits with words you need to go pick on people your own size (like the people who say there is no such thing as a 496ci BBC or the guy who beat a stv cobra) because they may be more appropriate for your lame ass comments

12secv6stang, I was not busting your chops and I was not aware that I ever did before as you implied. I agree 100% with your initial post about street racing being stupid and taking it to the track, etc ...

I was only trying to clear up that it was possible that the original poster (who lives in my state) could have been issued a drag racing ticket.

To be honest, most of the time I do not really follow screen names as to who said what. I read the words and see what I can add ... so please, do not take it personal. I wasn't even aware that it was "you" that made that comment.

As for your example of a ricer trying to get the jump on you at a light .. yes, at least here in PA, they could be issued a ticket. If it was evident that you were not participating, the officer could site the ricer for "display of speed" or something along that lines. I do not know offhand the exact name. You can even get a ticket in PA for squealing your tires.

So again, nothing personal man.

by no means take offense to this. it was meant for highflow and he knows it. i do read and respect your advice and friendliness to others. but what i was trying to say about the light is by defenitioneven if you was not participating, by defenition, you are drag racing and therefore be issued a ticket.but we all know that there is a huge difference between street racing and drag racing as does the law.
