Giff check all your spark plug connections first off. does it dies as your about to stop or while your stopped? these park aves have had issues with the torque converters not coming unlocked as the tranny downshift with a result of stall. how many miles? giffholmes 11-03-2003, 03:53 PM Car just rolled over 70,000 miles. It would die just as you eased onto the accelerator from a dead stop. Wouldn't do it every time and always started right back up. I changed plug wires this weekend. Hasn't died in a couple of days. Thanks for the reply. Giff parkavenuechrome 11-03-2003, 06:46 PM Car just rolled over 70,000 miles. It would die just as you eased onto the accelerator from a dead stop. Flatrater 11-03-2003, 08:09 PM these park aves have had issues with the torque converters not coming unlocked as the tranny downshift with a result of stall. how many miles? Now thats funny since I am a GM dealer tech and I have yet to see one with a bad torque convertor. The old THM 125 trans had the problem with the TCC solenoid staying locked up. And the big problem now with the 4T65E trans is bad PC solenoids. bridget36907 11-04-2003, 10:24 AM I am having the same problems with my pontiac bonneville it cut off twice on me yesterday and these were the codes found 740 torque Converter 361 EST line not toggling 321 no 18X ignition pulse Any suggestions would be appreciated! AFGunGuy 11-08-2003, 10:53 AM Check your vacuum lines. I had similar problem and bad starting. Replaced plugs and wires. No dice. Started looking around. Right at your throttle body there is a two opening vacuum connection. Mine was split along the seam follow the two lines one goes to fuel pressure regulator, other goes to something else. My throttle body end and fuel pressure reg end were both split. The one on the TB is a GM only part so Black permatex sealant on both rubber pieces, and abracadabra both problems gone. You might have same problem. My car is a Texas Park Ave, had 63,000 when the problem started, rubber hates heat. Aaron timrice 12-12-2003, 09:59 PM I have an '89 that would die at stoplights. Turns out it was my fuel pump going bad. I noticed that when I turned the ignition to the ON / first position, I wasn't hearing the fuel pump "whirr" and pressure up the system. The problem I had was worst in the summer when the pump got hot. Two things I learned on this: 1) Never ever put anything but a genuine GM fuel pump in your tank. (Why? I tried to go the cheap route three times--slow learner--with aftermarket junk from a big-name DIY parts outlet, and all of them died before giving 6K miles of service.) I hassled the outlet and the part manufacturer, and they excused their poor quality by saying I had "junk" in my tank. I did--their lousy parts. The GM pump is still working fine. 2) Don't run your car with less than 1/4 tank of gas, esp. in the summer months. The fuel keeps it cool. - Tim giffholmes 12-13-2003, 12:17 AM Well... I'm still having the problem. Car will die at idle sometimes. It's also posting a SES 507 code (high idle) about once or twice a week. I've replaced the IAC and checked for vacuum leaks but no change. I'm afraid I'm going to have to leave it with my friendly Buick service departmant soon. (yikes) Yeah, I'm scared!!
