idea for a Race car game...peter i 11-01-2003, 10:35 AM sure not a new idea from the main street.. able to update all mod part spec and tuning data from the net (create by any car specialist from the world) you can build or mod a car that exist in the reality (the part or chansis based). able to simulate the movement of that car and (weakness and advantage) The game included a test course and a lab (Wind hole etc) able to devolop your kind of car for any type of racing and stage you want. each time you win you get a virtual "credit" and able to develop more crazy mod for your car and challange the people "racer" around the web . all tuning number and spec are follow to the real things (intercooler, ECU, stablelizer bar , turbo charger etc) able to design your own configuration gui and color for yours car and tracks ... how does it sound ? crxlvr 11-03-2003, 08:29 PM it sounds cool, but it would take too many discs to even run such a program. first how many cars exist from any year and any country, millions upon millions, every variation available. it would be to hard to muster he amount of detail and handling characteristics of each car to either improve or hurt performance based on a mod. cool idea tho. dori corolla 11-04-2003, 07:43 PM nice sounding idea but i dunno if you get ALL of the cars, or even want all of them. the amount of cars in GT2 was good, maybe if a game came out like GT3 with about 700 cars (decent ones, no base model cars like Silvia Js and shit like that), the ability to mod the out side of your car (like Auto Modellista for PS2) and bassically that would do. a crossover between Auto Modellista and GT3. zyajzarc 11-05-2003, 06:23 PM Originally posted by crxlvr it sounds cool, but it would take too many discs to even run such a program. first how many cars exist from any year and any country, millions upon millions, every variation available. it would be to hard to muster he amount of detail and handling characteristics of each car to either improve or hurt performance based on a mod. cool idea tho. Actually, if the game was made for PC, dics would be completely unnecessary. This is under one condition though, people would have to pay around $10/month for the game. It would be more like a racing RPG or something. A major company like Sony or EA sports would create dedicated servers on which data for every car would be stored, so that each user doesn't need the data on their computer. Thus, with enough harddrive space on the servers, an infinite number of automotive data can be stored. Auto tuning companies can have their licensed equipment featured in the game just by contacting EA sports (for instance.. i'll just use that as the base company from now on) and have their equipment list updated as new parts come out. Now, handling characteristics would have to be either obtained all over again, or EA sports could contact Polyphony Digital for their automotive information from the Gran Turismo series. Polyphony Digital has the most detailed automotive information for each car in the series in the world. For their newest generation, GT4, they have revamped all the data (new sound files for every car at 1000 rpm intervals, new physics modeling for both vertical and lateral control, new light filtering to get realistic looking lights and shadows, new "dynamic" tire data to get realisic grip information on tires, etc...) and thus EA sports would use this data for all their cars, plus adding new data for new cars not supported by Gran Turismo. The game would obviously be multiplayer (LAN, tcp/ip, etc...), updatable through the internet, and it would support live voice chat. To my preference, it would only be playable on the newest of new systems, thus the minimum graphics card would be a GeForce 3 or equivlant, 2.0Ghz P4, 384 ram, etc.... But, rather than have a completely new company start this whole process, there are 2 alternative that i would consider reasonable. 1. Have Polyphony Digital tone down their PS2 branch of Gran Turismo and create a new PC branch for the game. This would be made easier since they already have the data for the cars and such. They only thing they would have to do is maybe have a 3rd party server hoster thing to have official games hosted. Problem: Highly unlike that Polyphony Digital will drop the PS2 branch and make a new PC branch. 2. Have Polyphony Digital keep going with the Gran Turismo series for the PS systems (PS2, PS3, PS9, etc...) but instead of sell them though CDs, DVDs, dual layer DVDs, dual layer double density DVDs, etc... they should sell the game in 120 GB harddrives. Thus, MUCH MUCH MUCH more information could be stored and thus everything about the game would improve. Problem: Money. Very few people would buy $200-$250 ultimate versions of Gran Turismo. Sure i would, but how many other people would by a game that cost as much as their system? (hell.. that's the only reason i bought a PS2, was for GT3... no seriously.. i have 5 games... GT3 is the most played game out of all my games. simple as that.) So, in conclusion, we are a ways off from having the Ultimate Driving Simulator in terms of cars, multiplayer support, and automotive aftermarket parts. Oh how i would love to make a game like that. Thank you for listen to his HUGE post... zyajzarc 11-05-2003, 06:24 PM Wooo!... my hands are tired.. anywho.. when i get back home i'll probably post up another idea or two on this subject :D Graphik Styles 11-05-2003, 08:22 PM there would be way too much work going into this one game. And then theres allways a chance that it might not work, so thats basically millions and millions of dollars gone down the drain. And i dont think anyone woudl want to take on such a big project, as it would take many years to complete. and by then the games market could have significantly changed. zyajzarc 11-06-2003, 03:35 AM Originally posted by De$i Gank$ta there would be way too much work going into this one game. Too much work for ONE company. That's why if this game every goes into development, it would be a collaboration of around 20-30 companies. So, when you turn on your playstation, it would take about 15 minutes to load because each company is entitled 10 seconds of screen time to "show off".... wow.. that would really suck. No, but seriously now, wouldn't a game like this just be AWESOME!?!? NarutoRamen 11-06-2003, 04:04 AM A game like that would be great except for one thing.....It will take ages to beat. Man (if that game existed) start playing that now...maybe in about 20 years u'll finish it....still it would be a good 20years spent 911S_TARGA_RSR 11-06-2003, 04:08 AM Check out www.rpmworld.com it has an interesting game that doesn't go as far as the one specifid above but it isstill cool. Thank you for listen to his HUGE post... EA did something like this a couple of years ago. They killed the server's last year, to make room for something else. I know you all have seen MotorCityOnline. That was a sweet game. Rob Graphik Styles 11-06-2003, 05:07 PM You're completely right. Too much work for ONE company. No, but seriously now, wouldn't a game like this just be AWESOME!?!? yeh but if 20-30 companies joined together, they would make barely any money, which then again is another reason not to make it. And liek you said everyone woudl have to show their little intro which would take like atleast 4 minutes to load, and just because of this waiting time, people would be too lazy to load it and just wouldnt want to wait for 4 minutes while it loads. Its a good idea but i think its too far fetched. peter i 11-13-2003, 05:19 AM THanks all yours input , Others website point me to "NFS underground" , I like the game idea but the creativity sens still seem low . if you see through this game . it just convert the player car to some "hot " japanese sport car and introduce jap/US 3rd party "performance" part /Kits development factory show you they "Brand" . something that do not touch the "creativity" and development stage . Yeah , do not have the RPG feeling :loser: (as a virtual reality or something like that ) a game allow you to design /built and challenge others .the final idea was to educate and bring the intrest idea from our mind. and we able to share and built a Real "Dream Cars" zyajzarc 11-13-2003, 07:55 PM IMO NFSUnderground is going to be a pretty good game. You can download the demo at www.needforspeed.com (http://www.needforspeed.com) and it's about 220meg. I think that this NFS game does focus more on the "street racing" theme and doens't stray to far from that, but it is supposed to have some great multiplayer features (good looking drag racing is one of the big things). It looks very much like The Fast and the Furious and it builds off the same theme, but i kinda like it. I guess i have to wait a couple days as it comes out on the 20th. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
