Greetings:

I am wondering if your car has a factory installed alarm such as RS3000/RS3200 or you add on a different brand at a later date. Which one is more reliable, factory installed or add-on?

Advance thanks for your insight thoughts.

Mine have both OEM and aftermarket alarms. I really do not like ANY OEM or dealer sold units except for the new units that GM dealers sell. The wierd thing about Toyo's is that they show an impact sensor in the instructions but do not include one. I guess that is at an extra cost??? Man, this thing costs enough already!!! Anyhow, the impact sensor is the key to a decent alarm. If you do not have one or have one that doesn't work good, then your alarm is about worthless. Also, these alarms really can not have anything else added to them. So, if you want to later upgrade it, you can't. Then, since they are all the same and in the same location, it makes it even more worthless because theives know this.

The only pro is that you just plug it in. Install is relatively simple.

I suggest going for a DEI unit like Viper, SIdewinder, Python alarms if you really do indeed need a good alarm with a lifetime warranty. Heck for the price of a RS3000, you could get an alarm/remote starter from DEI. Take a look at their stuff. Really, they are all about the same between the names and models. It's just features you gain when you go up on model #'s. Any model with a part # like 750vs, ###xp, or ###xs are the newer models.

Many other people suggest exactly like you. So I am going to follow your lead and will install an aftermarket.

Many thanks for your advice and helps. :iceslolan
