2 1/2 'new' F1 GT photos...Peloton25 10-30-2003, 10:41 AM I created these images from photos that were sent to me from the recent auction of an F1 GT brochure. They aren't all that large, but I figured since photos of the GT are so hard to come by, that many here would appreciate them. The last one is only half new, because I'm sure we've all seen it before, just never at this size. The first shot would make a beautiful picture to hang on the wall. Note to self: Track down Colin Curwood and become his friend. :D http://a9.cpimg.com/image/2B/32/25357099-0f80-00D70147-.jpg http://a3.cpimg.com/image/2F/33/25357103-2c25-014A00BF-.jpg http://a2.cpimg.com/image/24/32/25357092-05c7-01D101DC-.jpg P.S.: This forum's search function is no bueno - it can't search for 'F1 GT' because the words are too short. :( >8^) ER TcarR 10-30-2003, 10:48 AM Great pics!! This is 54F1GT, right? Any idea where this car is now? Peloton25 10-30-2003, 10:57 AM No - all the glamour shots for the brochure were taken using '56XPGT' and even though the car almost always appears to be black, it is actually a very similar green color to that of the last road car prototype, 'XP5'. I don't believe photos of 54F1GT have ever surfaced. I would suspect that car is in the hands of someone in the Middle East - possibly the Sultan of Brunei who is rumored to have a weeks worth of McLaren F1s. That's just speculation by the way - but it has been written before that the owners of the two customer F1 GTs also owned a regular F1 and an LM. That doesn't leave too many other possibilities. This car '56XPGT' at last account was in the corner of the McLaren Cars service center in Woking, England. You can see a few photos of it on tvrfreak's website. I would assume they have moved the cars they were storing there to their new facility by now - maybe not though. Either way, it remains in the possession of McLaren Cars and I doubt they have any intention of selling it. >8^) ER mini magic 10-30-2003, 03:09 PM awesome pix man. good job there :) tvrfreak 10-30-2003, 03:34 PM Peloton, that car was available for sale when I visited the McLaren factory. mini magic 10-30-2003, 03:37 PM really? cool Peloton25 10-30-2003, 03:42 PM Wow - that's rather surprising. I had a feeling that McLaren Cars would be keeping at least one of each model for the museum, and it makes sense that they would keep the prototype. Do you recall what the asking price was for it, or was that not discussed? >8^) ER tvrfreak 10-30-2003, 04:01 PM I think they wanted a million pounds for it, even, but don't really remember. I had no interest in it. It was immaculate, as you can see from my pics. Really nice in every way except for that body shape. I don't care how exclusive it is, it can't hold a candle to the regular F1 or F1 GTR shape. I hope they display it publicly--it's a shame this car is hidden away. TcarR 10-30-2003, 04:30 PM I think it would look much nicer if they bolted on a nice big rear wing. I'm sure they would make one if you asked them nicely (and had lots of cash :naughty: ). The GT shape really has grown on me over the last month or so (maybe i'm just going nuts :screwy: ) Stratoraptor 10-30-2003, 07:30 PM if i had the money, i would buy it even if it wasnt an F1, F1 GTR, or F1 LM. if you dont like the F1 GT, you could sell it or trade with another McLaren owner. ...or you could keep it. because you know....its still a McLaren any way you look at it. ;) mini magic 10-30-2003, 09:05 PM out of all the models i would still have a regular road car with no hd kit or anything. completely original. of course i would have to buy 2, one to drive all the time (whats the point of having a nice car if you don't drive it, i can't stand people who but million dollar ferraris and things and keep them in their garage the whole time). also one too put away (c'mon, i have the other one to drive ;) ) DiabloFan 10-31-2003, 01:52 AM When I will have chance to choose one F1, it will be 56XPGT. I just love F1 GT, for me it has the most beautiful lines. That was also reason why I wanted to buy F1 GT brochure. Now, as owner of that brochure, I can tell you that there are even more superb pictures of this car. I try to put some here. I also think, that I own some F1 GTR pictures, that you have not seen. I want to ask, if somebody from you has some pictures of McLaren F1 GTR 25R on fire in 1997 LeMans. I have found two pictures of this car after fire and one of this car on fire. I can post it, if you want. mini magic 10-31-2003, 07:06 AM i have to go to school ( :( ) so i'll post what i have later tvrfreak 10-31-2003, 07:47 AM I think Peloton posted a couple of pics of a GTR car on fire a long time ago. I don't remember the chassis number. Post yours pics then, let's see if they are new. Thanks! Peloton25 10-31-2003, 11:46 AM I posted three photos in this thread: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=99862&highlight=fire If you have others, please share as those are the only ones I have seen. >8^) ER vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
