Hi,
My wife and her family have been huge Honda fans over the years so I went and bought (private sale) a '92 Accord station wagon 4cyl auto 93,XXX miles and no rust. I took it to the dealer for a once over, and change the timing belt H2O pump etc. The mechanic took the valve cover off and there was 1/4" - 3/8" of crystallized/tar oil covering the top of the head and valve cover. He said it looked as though the oil had not been changed in about 50-60,000 miles. He went on to say that the engine would probably last 1,000-10,000 miles. I talked to a couple other mechanics and they said to carefully clean the valve cover/head and oil pump screen and run it. Itwould not be that big of a deal. You cannot really smell oil burning or unburned fuel in the exhaust.
Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance
Jon
