How much boost will an s13 sr20det engine hold safely.? At what point do the internals need to be upgraded.? Preferably from someone who has experience.

Here in Oz and Japan, a well set up sr20det will handle around 230kw(310hp), before the internal needs a look at. So if you are chasing less you will do well. Just keep in mind, if you want to reve the thing more than 7grand, the hydrulic top end will need to be replaced by an adjustable top end. Being a turbo you should not have to reve it past 6-7 anyway, unless you are going for big hp gains. Byt the way a friend of mine has a 200sx(silvia) with around 14psi(standard in Oz is 10.2psi) and 230, 000km on the clock. He never looks after his car(lack of oil changes, warm up & cool down & revs the living *&$% out of it), with NO oil consuption/smoke or any other issue to date. Super strong engines.
