Normally I'm a Honda nut. 2-liter four-bangers that put out 240 hp (F20C) are amazing. And the new K-series engines have loads of potential. I'm a college student in the market for a car that's fun to drive, reliable, and cheap to buy and maintain, however, and I saw a couple of '91 300ZX's on autotrader for less than $3000 (my max budget is $4000, but that doesn't include a swap).
Are Z's reliable and easy to maintain? How much would a '94+ VG engine cost? I could do a swap after I got some more money. And I know that Honda's meet all of this criteria, but a B16 just doesn't have the same power as a VG. Any info is appreciated.
(Before anyone mentions it, I would do an SR swap into a 240, but my brother already did that, so I have to blaze my own path.)

they are reliable and relatively easy to maintain, but the only thing is they are VERY expensive to fix and buy parts for if your a college student, you can find front clips from japan for around 3500, give or take a few, but to top it all off the Z is a great looking car and extremely fun to drive, especially if your used to driving all front wheel drive cars and you switch to a rear, its awesome, hope this helps

N/A Z32's are pretty reliable. Just like any other car as long as you take care of it. They are somewhat costly to maintain but not much more than any other discontinued car out there. The 300zx's have a fairly good aftermarket following as well. If you want a tt later in life, I suggest you buy a tt later rather than swap an engine in. Easier and less headaches involved.
