Now which GTS-R are you referring to? That actual racing GTS-R would kill a C5 and they are not street legal anywhere. Then there is the limited GT2; which looks exactly like the racing GTS-R but it is really toned down and the read wing does absolutely nothing. And then there is that Viper with the Red paint and silver racing stripe that is also called the GTS-R.

Which one are you referring to? I think the actual GTS-R and the GT2 would make quick work of a C5, but I am nor sure about the red one.

Vipers are dangerous. In fact I would not even take a ride in a Viper. I would drive one of course.

The Corvette had taken the correct route with incremental horsepower increases and adding handling and safety features as soon as they were proven.

ABS in 1986, traction control in 1992 and active handling in 1998 make the Corvette a car you can live with longer than a Viper.

Be careful.

How are Vipers "dangerous?" I have driven a few and to their limits mind you, and were just as safe as any other car I have driven.

Its not that they are dangerous, its just that they'll bite you in the ass if your not careful. I've driven Vipers too, and they aren't quite as forgiving as other cars (lost it once in a hairpin, but I was on a track so no harm done.) The cars themselves aren't dangerous, but they can be dangerous in the hands of inexperienced drivers, moreso than most cars.

Now THAT I will agree with.

Amen to that,I'd still take a Z06 over an ACR,because this would mean that it is "street legal," and Vettes are just easier to drive on seperate planes. What I mean is,it's JUST as easy to drive a Vette around town to run errands as it is to fling it sideways into the corkscrew at Laguna Seca.

Now if we are talking C5R to GTS-R,I'd take the GTS-R,I could care less about ride quality in a "track car."

While the Viper is the faster of the cars, I lean towards the C5 but a ZO6 for sure. The ride and amenities is better which is important for me. Thats one of the reasons why I went with the VR4 over the vette in the first place. (although when it was new the VR4 was faster then the new vettes)

In all honesty the C5, C5-R, and the Z06 don't stand a chance. The GTS-R dominated the 98 Lemans. They don't even race the GTS-R anymore, just the GTS. The GTS-R is one of the most bad ass cars ever built. Here are it's specs.

1998 GTS-R
Engine: 8.0L DOHC V-10
Horsepower: 700 @ 6,850
Torque: 705 @ 5,970
Transmission: 6-speed sequential
0-60mph: 2.8
¼ Mile: 9,95 @ 145.2
Slalom: 95.1
Lateral Acceleration: 1.67
Top Speed: (est) 245

the GTS-R dominated Le Mans in '98 because there were no C5-R's racing yet:D

really though, ever since Texas in mid 2000, the Vipers started losing races to the vettes. Oreca gave up on them and started campaigning prototypes, but private entries still run in the ALMS...they haven't won a single race yet, not even a podium I think.

heres the one of the C5-Rs, winner of the 2001 Petit Le Mans GTS class and sister car to the 2001 Le Mans GTS class winner:

Yes they did.

All I have to say is damn those shitty drivers. If you own a GTS-R you should get someone good to drive it. Ah oh well, I( can still root for the GTS Vipers and the Vettes. :)
