300zx hicas 4 wheel steeringFunkdeal 10-28-2003, 12:37 AM why do so many people eliminate the 4 wheel steering feature? i heard it was troublesome but i couldn't find out any more information. what's wrong with it? ZXTT 10-28-2003, 01:33 AM At high speed cornering the back end of the Z32s feels like it is floating, it is unpredicatable when oversteer will kick in. By locking the HICAS system you can 'feel' the corners better and the back end seems alot stiffer. Hope that helps! jennifer206 12-06-2003, 03:14 PM Well, Funkdeal, I Have To Say That Is A Beautiful Car! I Have A Black 1995 Convertible (i Know They Aren't Your Favorite Style, But I Love It)! I Was Actually Responding To The Hicas Question...my Family Owns & Operates A Nissan Dealership And We Have Heard A Few Complaints, But Not Too Many. People Complain That The Tires Wear Too Quickly, The Hicas Steering Is Too Expensive To Repair/replace, And They Felt It Was Unpredictable. I Can't Say I Agree With Them. I Know The Hicas By-pass Is Mainly Used When The Cars Are For Performance Street/racing Because It Takes The Control Away From The Driver. The Hicas Steering Was Made To Keep The Rear Wheel On The Roads Surface In Conjunction With The Steering Wheel Angle And The System's Speed Sensor. I Suppose This System In Daily Driving Is A Plus, But In The Performance/race Situation, It Is A "speedbump". Anyway, The Main Complaint Of Excessive Tire Wear I Have Heard Seems To Be Attributed To The Lack Of Being Able To Carry Out The Life Of A Tire By Rotating Front To Rear. Many People Didn't Realize That With Two Different Size Wheels/tires Thay Couldn't Do A Front To Back Rotation. ZBlacktt 04-06-2004, 08:24 PM Yo Funkdeal, that's a great looking car man. WagzOriginal 04-06-2004, 08:28 PM oh & the 4wheel steering (hicas) has not been eliminated on my car - u can clearly see it here: http://www.winter-bush.com/zcon/PA080031.JPG ya & this is me (sean) w/ Mr. K at the New Hampshire 2003 Z Convention: http://www.winter-bush.com/zcon/PA080038.JPG rizzspeed 04-07-2004, 04:16 PM I was gonna say, Hey that looks like Wagz's Z. I must say Sean, I've been following the transformation of your Z on 3zc, I like all others are absolutely amazed. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if ever there was a benchmark your car is it. Z_animal 05-07-2004, 05:40 PM i think most delete it only because of a problem, those hose that run to the back of the car are super expensive along with almost everyother part of the system. so why fix what you dont need take it off. 1viadrft 05-07-2004, 05:59 PM i think most delete it only because of a problem, those hose that run to the back of the car are super expensive along with almost everyother part of the system. so why fix what you dont need take it off.
