Lumina SS and Caprice SSpre 10-28-2003, 12:19 AM The Arab countries that sell Chevrolet have 2 door Lumina SS that puts out 324hp@5800RPM 462tq@4200RPM out of a 5.7 and weighs about 3500lbs Caprice Royale that puts out 328hp@5600RPM and 470tq@4000RPM out of a 5.7 GEN III(LS6 I think right) weighs roughly 3900lbs. According to the website they come out with the Caprice SS in October. That Caprice is like a scarier Impala SS from back in 96(I think). No prices on the website though. I want one of each :naughty: -The Stig- 10-28-2003, 12:22 AM 5.7 GEN III(LS6 I think right) weighs roughly 3900lbs. You're so close... A Gen III Small Block is a LS1... A LS6 is a ... warmed over LS1 with a few minor tweaks. pre 10-28-2003, 12:56 AM You're so close... A Gen III Small Block is a LS1... A LS6 is a ... warmed over LS1 with a few minor tweaks. I should of thought about it the old carb 350 most have been gen 1 and the LT1 are gen II. I'm confused though is a 350TPI still gen 1 or was it when reverse cooling stuff came in made it a gen II That Lumina SS has to be a mid 12 stock with all that torque and almost the same hp as later Trans Ams and Camaro SS LS1. Its also is a little lighter then them. :uhoh: :uhoh: -The Stig- 10-28-2003, 01:26 AM The 350TPI is still a GENI block. danno_SS 10-28-2003, 04:07 AM The Arab countries that sell Chevrolet have 2 door Lumina SS that puts out 324hp@5800RPM 462tq@4200RPM out of a 5.7 and weighs about 3500lbs Caprice Royale that puts out 328hp@5600RPM and 470tq@4000RPM out of a 5.7 GEN III(LS6 I think right) weighs roughly 3900lbs. Here's a linky to the press release for the 2004 Caprice. http://www.alghanim.com/contentdisp.asp?pageid=556 As you can see the SS and Royale versions, will have 325hp and 345 lb-ft of torque. Those numbers match the base SS and WS6 F-bod numbers. The Lumina and Caprice do however get true dual exhaust... bastards. I suspect the 2004 Lumina SS will post similar HP and TQ numbers. If those weights are right then the Lumina will be a good matchup for the LS1 F-bods (~3449 dry weight). The Caprice SS will be a few ticks slower as it weighs 350 more #s. hockeygod2787 10-28-2003, 12:07 PM :chair: :iagree: :owned: .:C.H.R.I.S:. pre 10-28-2003, 02:23 PM There is no way in hell a production LS1 is going to produce that much torque. 462ft-lbs, you need a damn turbo for that or stage 2 ported heads with a big ass cam thru longtubes. Sorry I didn't notice but the stats on the CHEVY website where in NM not feet my fault. DeViL 10-28-2003, 04:44 PM Holy shit that is nice looking, much better then the ugly junk Chevy has been making lately. Is that confirmed that the Caprice is really coming back or is this still a concept? Same for the Lumina will that actually be produced again? pre 10-28-2003, 04:52 PM Holy shit that is nice looking, much better then the ugly junk Chevy has been making lately. Its not a concept they are being produced in all the Arab countries Chevy sells in. Read the top first. DeViL 10-28-2003, 10:32 PM Yeah noticed that, tried to edit the post but either my connection or af.com was going incredibly slow so I gave up. Still though that is nice as hell they need to bring that car over here and get rid of our crap. danno_SS 10-29-2003, 01:41 AM Sorry I didn't notice but the stats on the CHEVY website where in NM not feet my fault. No prob .... the 470 # must a made me green with envy  That Caprice just looks bad-ass. It's good to finally see a true successor to the '94-96 Impalas.
