Me and a buddy at school decided to go at it. He has a 96 Potiac GP, V6, with a cold air on it. So we stopped at a light, when it was green :grinno: Boy were the people behind us mad, it was a fairly busy road at that time of day. I put it in D1, waited for the green, and we had at it. He spun a bit, not too much though, and he had an extra 160 lbs in the car from his buddy. We were bumper-bumper from about 0-30, then when I got above 5000 RPM, I started pulling away, *Clicked* it to D2, still pulled away, we stopped when we hit 80, him being about a car and a half beind. We then did a rolling start at 25, I again *clicked* it down to D1, started at 5500 or so RPM, same thing, we stopped at 80, him about a car and a half away. It was a sweet victory, drove home like I was the king of the road, a bit faster than normal, but not much. Feels great to win eh? I thought he would murder me, but what a wonderful surprise. :iceslolan BTW, My car is bone stock, and we only got 1 race in from stop b/c it was too damn busy, and it would just plain be unsafe to go over 80, at night, the road is a ghost road, but in rush hour, its like a highway. Thats why it was so dificult for us to get more races in..oh well, but IMO it takes more than 1 race to prove something.

What model gp was this? I thought those things were prety quick. My friend has a 98 Grand Am and its just the base model with a 5-speed and it has 150hp.

sounds like fun.

don't really approve of racing on busy roads though. try to keep it safer, too many things can happen w/ a situation like that.

good kill btw...

Good kill, but I optimistically give your transmission another 6 months before it falls off your car..

No kidding, I was a bit nervous myself :disappoin We saw a couple of "po-po" cars, so we called it quits. Street racing is a big problem in my area (Lincoln, NE) I feel sort of guilty now for contributing to it..The board wants to build a strip somewhere to keep "us" off the roads. Fine with me..
And Richochet..the sooner, the better, then I can trade it in for a manual! :naughty: But, i'd probably have to fix it before I trade it.

Oh, and its the lowest possible model you can get with the Grand Prix, not sure what that is, but yeah, 150hp, 8 more than me, in a car that ways a couple hundred lbs more. Doesn't say much about mine.
