Yesterday, I was coming up to a stop light and noticed a Supra in the left lane, the supra looked old and weathered. I pulled up next to him, and he gave me this quick hard look as he heard my low rumble sitting next to him. Light turned green and I waited a slit second to see what he would do. I heard his tires screech and knew he wanted some, so I gunned it at that moment. I immediately broke loose, felt like I was on ice. (just a side note, Nitto drag radials don't hook for crap when it's 40 degrees out and their not heated up). I had to let off some and feather the throttle before I could get on it again. At that point we were pretty even, he may of even been slightly ahead, but I wasen't really paying attention to him at that moment. At 4000 rpms I stepped back into the accelerator and started pulling away. Shifted into second and I was about 1 car away. By the top of second I looked back and he had to be 2 to 3 cars behind. He must have given up sometime during second gear. Weather he just gave up, or the woman in the passengers seat was yelling at him, I don't know? I did see him later that day, and he just keep his distance from me. :screwy:

yup was it a mark III or a mark IV twin turbo?

Honestly, I know nothing about Supra's as far as turbo's and motors, just the fact that I know what one looks like. It did look like an older one though, more boxy.

well if its a boxy one. then those are the single turbo mark III's. those aren't too quick from the factory. they ran a high 14. they weight waaayyy too much and they didn't make that much power. that was probrably why you left him sooo easily.anyways good kill.

Yeah, but they're the least of your worries.. PFff... You've still got to find away to deal with those damn LS1 cars.

LS1 cars are like Vampires... if you locate the head LS1. Take him out by any means... and the rest will fall.

But then, the LS6 folk will hunt you down with pitch forks and torches. Got Nomex?

aren't WS6 and LS6 better motors then LS1's?

aren't WS6 and LS6 better motors then LS1's?

"WS-6" was, and is, a suspension package offered by Pontiac for its Trans-Ams. It's just that the current iteration of the Trans-Am with this package is also combined with a fire-breathing LS1 and a ram-air package that has everybody just calling it the "WS-6";)...

Personally, I prefer the LS6 (of course) and the LT4 over the LS1...http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/tongue.gif

The LS6 just has a better flowing intake, higher CR, and a higher perfromance cam..

...and different rods and crank, and except for a lucky few 2001-2002, F-body owners, a different block!

Yep, except for those, it is no different from an LS1...http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/tongue.gif

hey, good kill man.

the older ones are usually pretty ran down (atleast all i've seen), so it SOUNDS like it wasn't much of a run for the ol' 5.0.

still sounds like fun tho eh?

7MGTE's and are a pretty capable motors also some people out there are running some pretty impressive numbers not to say they are just as good as a 2JZGTE but for their age they get the nod from me, also 1JZ and 1.5JZ were also available in the Supra from 1989 on (I think?) in Japan which are becoming really popular for swaps in MK3's.

i dont think the 1.5 JZ was put out by japan. i mean, its just the 2jz head on the 1jz block (or maybe reversed, i always mix it up haha). did toyota actually ever release it? i though it was just what some people decided to call it after "creating" it.

and go to 7mpower.com if u wanna see some high powered supras :)
