Oh buddy...Oh buddy...Oh buddy!!!

We should talk. I am in the middle of a head replacement on an '89 w/ 140,000 mi. on it. I don't have time to reply at this moment, but I wanted to let you know that your not alone.

Do contact me with your questions.

Thanks,
Larry

PS. If you decide to look into it, Alabama Cylinder Head is worth a peek. $285 for a new head, no core, valves and springs.

Harsh remarks about the 4 cyl. Engines. Many of then are very reliable, I had a cavalier with a 2.2L 4Cyl with over 250,000 miles. If it was mine I would replace the headgasket, while I was at it replace the Water pump also.

If you like to do your own work, i would say go for it. If you are taking it to a mechanic, its just not worth it.

you better check the blockand head for worpageand cracks if eather are cracked junk it i had one and know a lot of friends that had blown head gaskets checked the head it was cracked so they got a new head put it on and when tey put it together they found out the block was also cracked or it makes a strong top end and a weak bottem end and the bottem end blow up pne friend when it blow up it took the $280 head with it so it is you choice
