Anyone here driving the new 200SX? Called the Silvia in some markets (jp). Friends in the market for one now. How is it? Is the S15 still the powersliding beast I remember in the S14?

I am driving one, it is pretty mad... I have only just got it. But yes power-sliding is still done with pure ease.

If you friend is shopping the Australian market then he/she should try to get an import as the Australian version only has 147 kw where as the New Zealand/Japanese version comes with 184 kw.

I am driving one too n i love it.We here get the Jspec so the whole 250HP. Gear box is brilliant albeit a bit noisy when shifting down. Handling is very impressive compared to the S14 - perfect understeer conditions. Even better with strut bar attached!

Just got mine yesterday! Haven't driven it enough though to give an argument of any real substance. I'm not much of a fan of the s14. S15 all the way baby! But if your looking for performance get the spec-s instead of the r-spec - lighter and cheaper :smoker2:

id be loving life if i just got an s15, im planning on buying one in the next couple of years, how come the spec-s is lighter? only cause of the bodykit?
i would prefere the spec-r cause of the sunroof

and if you want 184kws just change the chip and increase the boost, new exhust and u will get around 200kws maybe more from what i have heard

I am also buying a S15 here in Sydney (Spec S for Purists) I have always had sunroofs in my cars but S 15 tends to lose significant headroon - Spec S is faster only due to less weight from Lack of sunroof
I will be getting a APS mods done - basically Exaust, intake and chips - will take up the Kw to Jap spec

would like to here from any other S 15 owners here in Sydney

I like the S15's especially in yellow and silver. Have a friend who bought a new one in red...but hasn't really taken it out yet.

I have what might be a dumb question...but why is the car in that picture a 240sx but it says 200sx? Is it just different for us americans?

We Americans totally get shafted when it comes to awesome cars, as you're about to learn.

The old U.S. 200SX became the 240SX in '89. Our current 200SX bears no resemblance to the 200SX/Silvia that the rest of the world gets. Ours is pretty much an economy car, theirs is an unbelievably inexpensive sports car that absolutely kicks ass. Our 240SX shares the same chassis as the 200SX/Silvia, but instead of the incredible CA18DET or SR20DET engines they have, we get the KA24E or KA24DE. Nissan engine codes may not mean much to you, but trust me, it's a big difference. The S15 Silvia carries a turbocharged 2.0 liter DOHC that puts out around 200-250 horsepower, depending on what country you're in. Our 240SX is powered (or underpowered) by a 2.4 liter truck motor, giving it 140-155 horsepower. The KA24 has a long stroke, and provides plenty of torque, but doesn't rev very high. In stock form, the S13 240SX took 10 seconds to get from 0-60. It sucks to be a westerner sometimes.

Now, if only MotoRex would start importing Silvias, then we'd be talking. :smoker2:
