I have a 1997 chevy 4x4 w/a vortec 350. my problem is after the truck sits overnight or for 8 hrs sometimes it does not want to start. this does not happen all the time....maybe 1/2 the time. sometimes in the morning i will go to work and it will start fine...but other times it dont. i took and poured some gas done the injector and it does fire and i can get it started like that. so i know it has no ignition problems. i have changed the fuel filter...didnt seem to help. i have never had it die going down the road. i can hear the pump running at times. what could it be? is there a regualtor on the truck? if so where? im sure its not the relay?? what else could it be??thanks

Bet you your fuel pump asm is going out. Mine did same thing. Get someone to crank the truck while you beat on the gas tank with a hammer. If it cranks, your pump is going bad. It is in the fuel tank.
Good luck :screwy:

you need to buy a fuel pressure test guage, you can get them a a local parts store for about 30 dollars, 60-66 psi. it should always stay within this range, the guage and the book for 20 dollars you can diagnose anything in the uel sending system. i highly recomend this as it has saved me lots of money and headaches over the years, btw the test guage will fit almost all fuel injected vehiclesso it is a good investment.
