SiR 99 vs Mini SMexSiR 10-17-2003, 02:18 AM Well after going and buying some doughnuts on a grocerie store, this guy was also buying stuff and we went out at the same time. He had a yellow mini cooper s 2002. He said, Oh! I like the SiRs especially in that color, how fast are they. I said wanna give it a try?...Of course. We are lined at a stop light, three lane. See the perpendicular streets yellow light, rev it up to 5600 and drop it. Gain about 1 feet, and then 2 seconds pass im in end of first, nose to nose tied. Go into second and stay all the way to 8200 rpm. The Mini cooper is half a car ahead. Third gear all the way to 145 km/ph, about 85 mph. The mini cooper is 1 car ahead. We shut down. Mini cooper wins by one car, one mini cooper size car. Roll windows down and I say lets go from 40 mph. Drop to second all the way to redline. Go to third and mini cooper takes the victory by 3/4 of a mini cooper size car. Pretty happy with the outcome. Both cars BONE STOCK. I did an exellent launch as well as him. Conclusion, Mini S is a tad faster than the SiR 99. carrrnuttt 10-17-2003, 02:28 AM Nice death. Mini S is a bit heavier than the U.S. Si/Mexican SiR, with the same HP. It's advantage is the extra torque its blown 1.6 has. KrNxRaCer00 10-17-2003, 04:22 AM bah, nothing to be ashamed of. put some money into the motor of ur SiR, an u'll take'm next time. Creagach 10-17-2003, 11:39 AM bah, nothing to be ashamed of. put some money into the motor of ur SiR, an u'll take'm next time. totally, if an sir keeps up with any boosted car (with the exception of the 1.8t vw) than thats not too bad at all. Miataracer 10-17-2003, 12:07 PM the Mini looks like a pretty fun car... anyone else see Italian Job? :naughty: Ace$nyper 10-17-2003, 12:48 PM cool sounds like a fun race i got a buddy with an S hes is all worked though there sweet lil cars good luck getting hm next time SpyderEclipseGst 10-17-2003, 01:14 PM the Mini looks like a pretty fun car... anyone else see Italian Job? :naughty: yeah that was a good race. Horsepower, hp/rpm 160 / 7600 Max. torque, lb-ft/rpm 111 / 7300 Compression ratio 10.2:1 KrNxRaCer00 10-17-2003, 05:18 PM yeah that was a good race. And the italian job was an ok movie. Tho I would never let the blonde drive my car..EVER...! Shes All over the damn road..! agreed... i do like the mini's tho... jus not my style, too small. MexSiR 10-17-2003, 05:30 PM Yeah it was a really even race, but common my engine is the same displacement with bunch of technology gizmos and can keep up really well with a supercharged mini cooper s that is newer and expensivier. The Neon R/T vs SiR stock are the best races though, I have taken two in third and pulled more than a car. knorwj 10-17-2003, 05:35 PM lol... Just an fyi Mini: Max. KrNxRaCer00 10-17-2003, 05:40 PM I thought that the mini s had 180 hp? nah, pretty sure here in the states we got the 160. Ricochet 10-17-2003, 06:51 PM I thought they were 180 too until I did some research. knorwj 10-17-2003, 08:45 PM I thought they were 180 too until I did some research. yeah i thought that lower model one was 160 or 140 or something and the S was 180... eh whatever they're still pretty cool. I personally like them. I just hope that they get a good aftermarket following. Bavarian Autosport should probably start selling stuff for them, it will be fun to see them at the track i think. Ricochet 10-17-2003, 09:05 PM I personally like them. They're pretty neat in their own little way, but no matter how hard I try I could never see myself in one. I'm 6' 200lbs and.. yeah.. me in a Civic is goofy enough :) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
