Engine missing power on acceleration

Hi,

I have a problem with my car and I was wondering if I can get some help from you.

The engine runs smooth when cold, everything is OK.
Now, when the engine starts to get warm and if I floor the gas, the engine is sputtering and hesitating to accelerate for 3-5 seconds.
... then it goes.

Also on some point in acceleration feels like missing some power.

Neon '96, 4 door, manual. I think is SOHC engine.

Any ideeas will be appreciated.

not a problem, I've had several cars where something as simple as changing the air filter fixed it. I think that could qualify me as an expert. Also you can get a few extra horses for your car by simply puting in a K&N air filter instead of one of those rip off paper ones like crummy Fram air filters. :loser:

I thought my problems went away...
I got back the same feeling with the engine.
It feels the same when u low on gas.

running idle at low rpm is OK but when accelerating it feels the same way when u run out of gas.

changed air filter, spark plugs, what else could be?

could be a multitude of things then. Try changing your plug wires if that doesn't work then a new coil pack. Both of these things are fairly inexpensive and should do the trick. Also pour some fuel injector cleaner into your gas tank just in case it is a fuel problem your injectors could be plugged too. Try those things and let me know then we can go from there.

it sounds like your air/fuel ratio is off and the engine is bogging down., check you TPS and your CPS.
also check your vac. lines. dosnt sound like the exact same problem I had, but vacume lines can do alot of strange things to your car.

I replaced TPS on mine and still same symptom.Car stumbles a lot unless you rev it up and then it goes.When I try to start it ,it will start 5 times and shut off immidiatelly until i sit on gas pedal.After that works fine but stumbles on aceleratioon.
