Park Lane showroom historyDiabloFan 10-11-2003, 06:01 PM I always wanted to know this, so if you have some info, answer my questions. When was this showroom build? Was there any car before 065? Thanks for answers. mini magic 10-11-2003, 09:27 PM not that i know of Peloton25 10-12-2003, 03:37 AM I'm not positive when the showroom opened - surely it happened sometime during the sales process. That's probably a question for David Clark if anyone wants to ask him. Also, I found further evidence that there may have been a red F1 in there for a short period of time. We've already seen one photo of the engine bay in a red F1 in the McLaren showroom, but at the time most of us felt it was photoshopped. I'm still trying to confirm someone's story that a red car may have actually been displayed there. Maybe I'll even get another photo or two out of it. We can only assume that #065 was there the whole time as far as silver cars are concerned. With so many of them, it would be impossible to know for sure. >8^) ER mini magic 10-12-2003, 08:45 PM isn't it a tag stereo showroom that has a mclaren f1 in it. i don't think its a "mclaren showroom" btw, i'm pretty sure the red pic was photoshopped Peloton25 10-12-2003, 11:42 PM Well what if I told you it wasn't photoshopped... :D Check this new photo out: http://a3.cpimg.com/image/F9/DE/24592633-c99f-02460158-.jpg The source of that photo just emailed it to me. He claimed that it was taken in late 1994 or early 1995 - he couldn't remember. He did confirm the car was in the McLaren showroom in London. He said he was not the source of the engine photo - that his dad had only taken that one picture of the car. He also stated that he didn't know what chassis number it was as he had no idea they had chassis numbers. Anyway - that's confirmation enough for me that there was indeed a red F1 in the Park Lane showroom for some length of time. >8^) ER mini magic 10-13-2003, 08:31 AM is that the clinic car? i can't tell. Also, note that the porsche dealer in the background isn't there, this pic must be really old. Also, look out the left window, park lane isn't as built up as it is now. TcarR 10-13-2003, 10:28 AM Look at the lack of detail on the door. It could just be the light or it could be photoshoped. I hope its not been fiddled with, cos it looks great EDIT: It is either car 017 or 021. Both are '94 cars. 017 was the 16th car built and was calypso red pearl. More likely is car 021 that was the 20th car built. It was blood red solid. This would mean the car would have been in the showroom for 3 years before 065 was built. Peloton25 10-13-2003, 10:52 AM To address your concerns TcarR - the image file format JPEG, doesn't deal well when compressing the color red. It tends to get blocky, lose fine detail, or bleed edges with that color. That explains the lack of detail on the door. mini magic - it can't be the Clinic Model as the engine cover on that car is fixed closed. It's also lacking the little 'eyebrows' in the covers over the headlights that are seen in every other picture of the Clinic Model. I don't believe the Clinic Model was ever painted "Red" - it was Burgundy for a while, but I've never seen a photo of it in plain Red before. I'm with TcarR - I think it's the Blood Red Solid #021. It looks strikingly similar to Nick Mason's GTR #10R which is also listed as being painted Blood Red. >8^) ER TcarR 10-13-2003, 11:13 AM Whats in the showroom now? I heard XP5 was there and a new SLR was going to replace it soon. If that is true its a real shame cos the showroom was one of the few places you could easily see a McLaren. I'm not a big fan of the SLR. Peloton25 10-13-2003, 01:17 PM Well TcarR, you're the closest. I vote you go and check it out for us. :D I'm willing to bet they've got an SLR in there by now. They'd be dumb not to since it's their newest product, even though I think there should always be an F1 in there. :) Also, mini magic makes a good point, being that it's really a Tag McLaren Audio showroom, and seeing as how they are getting out of that business the showroom might disappear altogether. That's just speculation though. I'm sure mini magic will try to get over there in December when he's in England so we may have to wait until then for an update. >8^) ER TcarR 10-13-2003, 01:22 PM Going down to check it out means...............crossing the border! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! mini magic 10-13-2003, 06:33 PM of course i will try to find out :) Peloton25 04-30-2006, 01:35 AM This seems like a worthwhile reason to resurrect this thread. :grinyes: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20B/th_London-1995.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20B/London-1995.jpg) <-- Click Me :naughty: As noted above, speculation has this as chassis #021 - Blood Red Solid. The filename suggests this photo was taken in 1995. Unfortunately this was the only shot, but I think it would be pretty hard to argue that this one was Photoshopped. >8^) ER vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
