hi everyone, if you look at the slr it has coppied the shape of the pontiac firebird, a lot of money for a car that can be beaten by a pontiac transam

hasnaz u are half right half wrong. A front engine is situated on the front axle, a mid engine is between the two axles and a rear engine is situated on the rear axle. Not the SLR engine is not on the front axle it is set back further, so technically it is a mid engines car but it hinks its being called a front-mid engine engined car. This confision is worht it for the balance that is created by this amamzing car. And my no means would mclarena dn mercedes copy a "pontiac transam". Its a blend of the 300SLR with new forumula 1 technology which means it can beat the likes of the ferrari enzo, koenigsegg and zonda round tracks! a "pontiac transam" could not!

I can't belive I'm hearing this... the SLR is on sale over here, and I have been lucky enough to drive one...

I'd like to see the transam that will give the 600 + bhp SLR a run for its money.

As regards its engine position, it is front mounted. The industry guide lines say that if any parts of the engine should sit infront of the forward axel, then it is front engine drive, and as there are numerous bits infront of the axel, then the SLR qualifies. I do agree however that the majority of the engine is behind the front wheels.
