Yeah, I know what you mean, I think I've already bought enough models from now to keep me busy until I'm 30, maybe even longer with the pace that I build. It seems like they're doing this once or twice a month now. I'm not complaining, though. :)

Thanks for the heads up! That's so cool. I've been watching the ads, but never thought to look for internet coupons. Going to get that 360 Spyder and Supra I saw sitting on the shelves last week. Hope they're still there.

The thing i dont like about hobby lobby is that they price things based on size... the tamiya box is bigger than the revell.... so its more expensive. The supra was bigger than the f2000 hence more expensive.

I got a f2000 for 13.99 while another one was marked at 28.99. The spyder was $38 but i got it for $9 after the rebate ;)

Just came back from the Hobby Lobby in Baytown, picked up the Tamiya Honda S2000, 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona by AMT, The Tony Nancy 22jr. dragster and roadster kits, and the AMT 29 Ford. All for 30$. I love the 1/2 off sale.

Yup, got to love the 1/2 off sales at Hobby Lobby. Thanks for the tip! I ran out with my coupon today and picked up 2 models for a total of $12 bucks. An AMT 70 Chevelle SS454 and a Fast/Furious Supra also from AMT. God knows when I will get started on those but I got em cheap! :evillol:

I went back today to the other Hobby Lobby near me and picked up two more kits, the 70 Chevelle SS 454 which will be modeled after the one Matthew McConaghey drove in Dazed and Confused. I also picked up a Ferrari Spider for my daughter to build. Of course, I just may build that on myself. :iceslolan

Tamiya Supra $9
Tamiya 3000GT $8

I told myself I'm not buying any more kits till my built pile gets to less than 8, but I can't pass this up. Though I'm upset I haven't seen the Revell Enzo yet. Not really interested in building the car, but like to have that engine for an idea I'm brainstorming.

I picked up a Tamiya 911 GT3 for $4.99.
The plastic was off and the guy just rang it up for $9.99 THEN took 50% off. I also picked up the Revell Ferrari 360 spider for $6.
I left there happy!! :lol2:

Killer deal on the GT3! :smokin:

The Revell 360 Spider is tempting for $6, but it's simply blown away by the (at Hobby Lobby prices) $19.50 Tamiya Spider which is worth every penny IMHO. Same can't be said for the Revell Enzo, which is exponentially better executed than their 360 Spider, and stands up well to the exponentially more expensive Tamiya kit. The Revell Enzo is probably the best $6.50 kit I've ever bought! :grinno:

I hope to find the Tamiya 360 Spider there tomorrow. I have the Tamiya Enzo (not yet built) and the Revell 360 Spider. All the part are cleaned, filed and sanded then put back in the box. Just can't bring myself to deal with it. If I get the Tamiya Spider the Revell kit may become "parts".

Darn, my GT3 kit was in perfect condition. Still, $7.00 is even cheaper than 30% off I used to get at a hoby store in Tokyo (2000x0.7=Y1400=$13.00)
I picked up some cute stuff for the finance minister (=wife), so I was able to buy one more kit than originally planned. :)
Tamiya S2000 Type V ($24.99) -> $12.50
Tamiya GT3 ($13.99) -> $7.00
Tamiya 550 Maranello ($12.99) -> $6.50
The tax in Wichita is 6.3%, so total was $27.64
Any of you, who want to see the contents, let me know.

how's the 550 ? I didn't know they had made that kit... but then again i see its not plastic ?

hirofkd
10-12-2003, 01:39 AM
The 550 is a partially built Maisto Diecast. I was thinking of vacuum forming the body panels out of this body, and use the rest to make a stock 550 model. I could have bought the built one, but the kit comes with two sets of wheels, that I can cut and graft the spokes to a 17in wheel rim. For the same reason, I bought the Murcielago diecast kit a while ago, and I'm thinking of using the body of Gate R/C body, assuming the body is made of plastic.

My home town, Jackson Mississippi, doesn't have a Hobby Lobby so I drove down to the coast to shop at one. Got the Tamiya S2000, Tamiya Suzuki RGV-T '01 Telifonica and the Revell Dale Earnhardt "Silver Anniversary" car. However, to make things even better at the coast they were having the "Cruise the Coast" function going on. HotRods, Street Rods and muscle cars everywhere....

Dissapointed not to get the Tamiya 360 Spider we drove over to Mobile, AL. I got the 360 Spider there. But since I was there I thought I may as well visit the local hobby store... picked up the Tamiya Castrol Mugen NSX, Tamiya Skyline V-SpecII and the 1/12 scale Porsche 910 Carrera....

can't drive all those miles and come home empty handed.

THIS WAS A GOOD DAY!!!!!
